Defeating Brighton, Arsenal regained the top spot

Premier League runners-up Arsenal dominated the game at the Emirates Stadium, relentlessly hunting for a goal. Arsenal had 58% possession in the first half, had 8 shots with 3 on target, while Brighton did not even have a shot on goal. The Gunners attacked strongly down the right flank, where Bukayo Saka charged like a predator, stealing the ball and shooting repeatedly. But the youngster himself wasted many chances before he won a corner in the 53rd minute.

However, a poor challenge from Ben Mee that saw him sent off in the 71st minute changed the game. Six minutes later, Villa capitalised on their man advantage and equalised when Alex Moreno headed home a cross from Leon Bailey.

Ollie Watkins completed the comeback against his former club when he headed home from a corner with five minutes remaining. Aston Villa now have 38 points from 17 games, level with Liverpool (who later shared points with Man United) and just one behind Arsenal.
