In 1938, at 43 Hamelin Street - Saigon, now 43 Le Thi Hong Gam (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), Dan Chung Newspaper was born.
From 1937 to 1939, the two General Secretaries Ha Huy Tap and Nguyen Van Cu, together with the newspaper's Editorial Board (consisting of 7 comrades), took turns directing the publication of the content of the Dan Chung newspaper in Saigon to propagate policies and lead and direct the Party's public press movement.
The People's Newspaper became a sharp weapon that effectively encouraged and supported the mass movement to fight for freedom, democracy, improve living conditions, fight against colonial reactionaries, fascism and war, leading to the birth of the Indochina Democratic Front.
On September 7, 1939, the French colonialists in Cochinchina ordered the newspaper to close, confiscated all assets, and arrested the newspaper's editorial board.
After more than a year of existence, Dan Chung Newspaper has successfully fulfilled its historical mission. The newspaper is a forum for propagating Marxism-Leninism; propagating the Party's revolutionary line to the public at home and abroad; winning the fight for freedom of speech. From there, it has contributed to enriching the Vietnamese language, contributing brilliant pages in the history of Vietnam's revolutionary press.
The headquarters of Dan Chung newspaper was ranked as a national monument by the Ministry of Culture and Information according to Decision No. 1288/VH/QD dated November 16, 1988.
