Garbage 'suffocates' many canals in Quynh Luu district

A representative from the Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise stated: The entire district has over 20 locations where waste regularly accumulates. Every day, the unit deploys dozens of workers to monitor the sluice gates and canals to remove waste from upstream, ensuring unobstructed water flow. Besides providing irrigation water for rice fields, the main canals also supply raw water to four water treatment plants in the district: Quynh Thach, Quynh Hau, Quynh Yen, and Quynh Luu. Therefore, pollution from waste also affects the quality of the incoming water, threatening the health of the people. Residents in the upstream areas need to raise their awareness of household waste disposal, and the local authorities need to take measures.
