Landslide in Thuong Duc commune kills one person

DNO - On the morning of November 3, Mr. Phan Trung Phi, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Duc Commune, informed that a mountain in the commune had a landslide with an estimated volume of rock and soil of more than 100,000m³. A resident who was visiting the field was unfortunately buried and died.

The landslide is located in Ong Da stream, Thai Chan Son village, Thuong Duc commune. At the scene, the landslide is more than 1km long and is at risk of further landslides. This area is about 5km away from residential areas so it does not affect people's lives.

However, on the morning of November 3, Mr. NQB (40 years old, Truc Ha village, Thuong Duc commune) was buried by rocks and soil while going to the field near Ong Da stream to check on his grazing cattle.

Upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Thuong Duc commune and local police and military forces urgently arrived at the scene.

After more than 2 hours of rescue, Mr. B's body was found. The forces removed the victim's body from the landslide area and handed it over to his family for burial.

On the same morning, the leaders of Thuong Duc Commune People's Committee visited, encouraged and supported the victim's relatives with 5 million VND.

Local authorities urgently surveyed the landslide situation, put up warning lines and widely propagated to keep people away from this area to ensure safety.
