Students want to work in the right field, why do businesses shake their heads?

The event, taking place from November 21st to 23rd, will feature numerous technological solutions and platforms, as well as robots with artificial intelligence (AI) applications, showcased by schools and businesses.

Arriving early, Tran Tan Phat, a student majoring in Information Technology at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages ​​- Information Technology, was curious and surprised by the technological devices. However, he was more interested in and spent more time learning about the recruitment information of the companies present at the job fair.

Tan Phat wants to become a programmer, in his field of study. He has worked several part-time jobs related to the subject, so he has set high standards for himself in the workplace. His ideal job would have a salary of around 15 million VND per month.

Another student, Nguyen Duy Tam, said he had been honing his professional knowledge since his first year. Tam's goal is to catch the attention of large corporations.

Tam came to the job fair out of curiosity, wanting to know what the companies' requirements were for students.

"The job market is quite competitive, so I want to prepare early, even though I'm only in my first year. Therefore, I want to know more about the training program for IT interns and the professional requirements so I can gradually accumulate knowledge over the years," Tâm shared.

The company says, "We may have to switch to a different field."

Mr. Vo Thanh Cong, director of Vo Hoang Trading and Investment Company Limited, believes that the trend in personnel recruitment is towards younger employees in certain industries.

He said that new graduates are not usually the target of his company's recruitment, because technical positions always need people with long-term experience. "However, new graduates can still experience customer consulting positions or technology product retail to gain more knowledge," Mr. Cong shared.

Mr. Cong also advised students to experience the smaller stages of the process to understand the nature of the work. By understanding the process, they can learn experience, techniques, and some practical tips from real-world projects.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh (An Phat Commercial Computer Joint Stock Company) said that many businesses still welcome students for internships and training. The conditions are that students must be passionate, hardworking, and willing to learn, even if it's a field outside their expertise.

Regarding salaries, Mr. Do Ngoc Thach (Memory Zone Super-Fast IT Services Co., Ltd.) said that Gen Z people need to be realistic and clearly understand their own capabilities.

To earn an ideal salary of 10 million VND or more, you need to be able to handle high pressure as well as possess a solid foundation of knowledge and work experience.

Mr. Thach suggested: " With the economy still in recession, young people can work in unrelated fields to gradually accumulate experience, learn more, and then return to their area of ​​expertise. The more experience they accumulate, the wider their job opportunities will be."
