On the morning of November 2, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law organized the program "New Student Luggage" for nearly 400 students of the 50th course at Campus 3 (Long Phuoc Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
This is an annual activity carried out by the Admissions Consulting Department, to help new students get acquainted with the new learning environment, while also equipping them with essential knowledge about safety, life skills and mental health care.
The first part of the program focuses on personal safety and the problems students often encounter when starting life away from home.
Captain Ly Bac Hai - an officer of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police shared about the risks of fire and explosion in daily life, especially charging and using the phone at the same time, or using unsafe electrical equipment.
Mr. Hai guides basic escape measures such as using a damp towel to protect the respiratory tract and finding a smoke escape route, to help students proactively protect themselves in case of an accident.

Continuing this content, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Chanh Trung emphasized the importance of awareness when participating in traffic.
He pointed out common mistakes made by young people such as lack of observation, running red lights or driving after drinking alcohol.
"If you drink alcohol, do not drive", the message sent by Lieutenant Colonel Trung is a reminder of students' responsibility to themselves and the community.
Not stopping at survival skills, the discussion also expanded to "soft" equipment for new students.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Hong - Head of the Department of Criminal Law, encouraged students to practice teamwork skills, time management and maintain a steady mind in the face of temptations.
Dr. Hong warns about online scams that take advantage of the psychology of easy work, high salary, or gullibility to appropriate property.
At the same time, Dr. Hong emphasized that it is important for students to stay alert, update information and seek timely support when encountering difficulties.

From a psychological perspective, Dr. To Nhi A - lecturer at the Faculty of Basic Sciences guides students to identify and respond to mental crises through hand images.
First, to overcome anxiety, you need to understand yourself; to avoid anxiety, you need to ask clear questions about the things you face to overcome them easily; and finally, you need a high level of concentration to solve the problem.
According to Dr. Nhi A, understanding the cause of fear and maintaining positive energy will help young people overcome the pressure of studying, communicating and adapting to new environments.
The discussion atmosphere was lively, many questions were raised related to financial management, balancing between studying and working part-time.

MSc. Vu Dinh Le, Deputy Head of the Admissions Consulting Department, said the program is maintained annually as part of a comprehensive student support strategy.
"The school has just inaugurated a mental health counseling room, a support space to help students identify early signs of stress, anxiety, and depression, so they can receive timely advice and support.
Through the program, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law demonstrates its commitment to building a safe and humane learning environment, while helping students confidently enter their university journey with a confident and proactive mindset," said Master Le.
