(NLĐO) - Close collaboration between businesses and training institutions creates a breakthrough in innovating teaching content.
On November 2nd, the 2024 Industry Conference and a seminar titled "Strengthening training linked to practice and international integration to improve the quality of education" were held at the National Economics University.
Associate Professor Bui Huy Nhuong believes that the close collaboration between businesses, socio-political organizations, and training institutions creates a breakthrough in innovating teaching content.
Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice Rector of the National Economics University, emphasized that the close collaboration between businesses, socio-political organizations, and training institutions creates a breakthrough in innovating teaching content.
Businesses demonstrate their responsibility in training their own workforce by commissioning training, participating deeply in the training organization process, and providing feedback to adjust teaching content to better align with practical job requirements.
"The involvement of businesses and organizations in the training process is a mandatory element, creating opportunities for students to understand the requirements of the labor market, accumulate necessary knowledge, and proactively enter the world of work," affirmed Associate Professor Bui Huy Nhuong.
Delegates affirmed that university programs must be more closely linked to practical applications.
Mr. Phan Minh Chinh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pro Sports Group, said that businesses highly value candidates with practical skills. Therefore, schools need to create conditions for students to both study and gain practical experience in the labor market.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, General Director of Fiin Group, hopes that training institutions will become a "platform" to launch students' future careers. However, in reality, current output standards do not adequately emphasize students' practical experience.
"Many graduates are clueless, not understanding what working in an office environment is like, how human resource management systems work, how to work with superiors, colleagues, and partners, and what workplace discipline is required. Furthermore, skills in working with artificial intelligence (AI) are indispensable, as AI is an irreversible trend. Previously, we learned office computer skills like Word and Excel, but those are now outdated. Therefore, the ability to apply AI to increase productivity and create efficiency for society is something we must consider," said Mr. Nguyen Huu Hieu.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, Director of D&P Vietnam Tax Consulting and Agency Company, suggested that university programs should be more closely linked to practical applications. Courses should be designed to meet the actual needs of the labor market; soft skills for students should be enhanced (such as communication skills, teamwork, and time management). Internships at businesses should be organized for students earlier, and universities should create opportunities for students to try their hand at startup projects…
Dr. Le Anh Duc stated that the school's training program will increase its practical content.
Responding to the opinions of many businesses/organizations that recruiters need to enhance the "practical" aspect of students' skills, Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the Training Management Department at the National Economics University, said that the university has included a "Practical Specialization" module in all regular undergraduate training programs starting from 2024 to increase the practical content in the training process. All regular undergraduate training programs from the 2024 cohort onwards will include the course "Basic Data Science in Economics and Business," equipping students with fundamental knowledge and skills in data, technology, and engineering.
Mr. Le Anh Duc added that the school places great emphasis on raising the entrance standards through recruitment, attracting students with outstanding abilities (among the top 10% of the best students nationwide).
In addition, the school prioritizes students with internationally recognized English language skills. Specifically, in 2024, 70% of admitted students will have an IELTS score of 5.5 or higher, and an entrance exam score of 26 or higher.
Regarding output standards, the school requires students to achieve a GPA of 5.5 before graduation for standard Vietnamese-language programs; and 6.0-6.5 for English-language, high-quality, and POHE programs.
