According to Khaosod, at 7 PM on December 12th, rescue workers from the Tri Kunnatham Chonburi Rescue Organization received a report of eight cases requiring urgent hospitalization. They immediately went to the reported address, a household in Nong Mai Daeng Ward, Mueang District, Chonburi Province, and found eight patients in critical condition with symptoms of abdominal pain, dizziness, diarrhea, and vomiting.
All eight have been identified as Thai national athletes participating in the 33rd SEA Games, including two women and six men. They had just returned after a day of competition at the Games.
Rescue workers quickly transported all eight people to Chonburi Hospital for emergency treatment. They received medical care and underwent tests to determine the cause of their symptoms. Additionally, an investigation is needed to determine whether these symptoms originated from food or drink consumed during the SEA Games 33.
The Khaosod newspaper did not disclose which sports the athletes were competing in. The sports held in Chonburi included paragliding, waterskiing, billiards and snooker, cycling, horseback riding, extreme sports, golf, handball, hockey, modern pentathlon, rowing, sailing, shooting, Teqball, triathlon, weightlifting, woodball, women's football, and futsal.
