Shocked by the scene of a mother letting her 6-year-old daughter skip breakfast and drink lemon and salt water to 'prevent disease'

Showing off her child "skipping breakfast for 6 years"

This person affirmed that her child "never ate breakfast" but only drank lemon and salt water or other drinks mixed with "detox - healing" formulas.

According to content posted on social networks, a woman named TN regularly shares dietary "secrets" that she believes can help prevent cancer and many other diseases.

"If you don't want to get cancer, try to detoxify. Never eat breakfast if you don't want cancer," this account wrote.

She believes that every morning just drinking lemon juice with salt, apple cider vinegar or other "parasite-removing, colon-cleansing, and gallstone-dissolving" drinks is enough to protect your health.

Notably, this method is not only applied to herself but also strictly applied by this mother to her 6-year-old daughter.

She proudly boasted: "For the past 6 years, my child has never eaten breakfast, only drank water to purify his body and is still healthy."

These shares quickly sparked fierce controversy. Many people expressed concern that letting young children skip breakfast could have serious consequences for their development.

Not only causing outrage because of the unscientific way of raising children, TN's sharing about "miracle drug" and "cancer prevention detoxification" methods also made many people angry. It is worth mentioning that many people believe in these methods and practice them, potentially affecting their health.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online, Dr. Truong Hong Son, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Applied Medicine, affirmed that nutrition is a vital factor for the body's development, in which breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

After a long night, the body has low blood sugar levels. If you don't eat breakfast, the brain and muscles don't have enough fuel to function, leading to fatigue, decreased concentration and metabolic disorders.

"Many studies have shown that people who eat breakfast regularly have better memory, higher concentration, lower LDL cholesterol levels and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes or being overweight," Dr. Son emphasized.

Letting children skip breakfast for a long time can cause malnutrition, slow growth, reduced learning ability and increased risk of chronic diseases later in life.

Lemon juice is not a "miracle cure"

In addition, recently on social networks, people often share the method of drinking lemon and salt water to prevent diseases, even cure "all diseases".

Sharing about this issue, Dr. Son said that in fact, lemon juice mixed with salt is a type of water that is beneficial to health in some specific cases. For example, vitamin C in lemon helpsstrengthen the immune system, flavonoids have antioxidant properties, citric acid stimulates digestion, and salt provides electrolytes for the body when dehydrated.

"However, lemon juice is not a "miracle drug". Drinking this type of juice in high concentrations or using it as a meal replacement or even as a substitute for medical treatment is extremely dangerous," Dr. Son emphasized.

According to him, drinking lemon salt water regularly, in high doses, can cause diarrhea, dehydration, electrolyte disturbances, and sudden increase in blood pressure.

People with underlying diseases such as heart disease, kidney disease, stomach disease, and diabetes may experience serious, even life-threatening complications.

In children, using this method can cause digestive disorders and intestinal microflora imbalance.

"There is no drink that can 'cleanse toxins' as rumored online.

In particular, applying "extreme" measures that lack scientific basis for young children - a group of vulnerable people - can lead to long-term consequences. People should not apply or believe in methods on social networks when there is no clear scientific basis," Dr. Son warned.
