Live green, live positively.

Recently, climate change has become more severe, leading to many extreme weather phenomena such as droughts, floods, and heatwaves. Regularly following the news and aware of the seriousness of the problem, Ngo Tuan Kiet (20 years old, from Da Nang ) wants to contribute his efforts to reduce waste in the environment.

Small deeds, big impact

Besides maximizing the convenience of plastic items, Kiet also researched how to sort packaging, plastic bottles, boxes, plastic bags, etc., to see which ones could be reused. Kiet repeated this action many times with perseverance and seriousness, contributing to spreading the message of environmental protection to those around him. Kiet's friends gradually became aware of bringing their own containers and bottles when buying food and drinks at restaurants and shops instead of accepting disposable styrofoam boxes and plastic cups as before.

Ngo Yen Nhi actively supports clothing recycling programs to avoid waste and environmental damage.

Since high school, Ho Nguyen Minh Tue (a student at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City) has been familiar with environmental protection projects organized by the Youth Union, the school, and the local community. Whenever she hears about clean-up programs or tree planting around her neighborhood, Minh Tue always actively participates. According to Tue, if each person is conscious of maintaining cleanliness and preserving the natural landscape, and refrains from littering, it will significantly contribute to improving the living environment for the community.

In college, Tuệ and many of her peers rarely refused to contribute to campaigns for a green environment and a civilized, clean, and beautiful city. This young woman readily rolled up her sleeves to help clean up waste, even when facing considerable risks. Tuệ and her friends collected, gathered, and transported non-biodegradable and recyclable waste to factories.

Develop a habit of saving.

Ngo Yen Nhi (born in 2002, from Dong Nai province) has long since lost her preference for fast fashion products after learning about the negative consequences of the cheap, mass-produced garment industry.

To minimize environmental pollution, Nhi prioritizes brands that put environmental protection first. Nhi says she often searches for information and videos online to better understand the harmful effects of the greenhouse effect and ways to reduce carbon emissions. Besides using environmentally friendly products and services, Nhi also cultivates healthy lifestyle habits and avoids waste. This is demonstrated by her habit of saving electricity and water, both at home and in public places. She also cooks her own meals instead of ordering takeout to reduce her consumption of plastic...

Minh Tuệ (left) and Tuấn Kiệt believe that caring for and protecting the environment is one of the top responsibilities of young people.

According to Nhi, effectively addressing food waste is also a way to contribute to a sustainable lifestyle, protect the environment, and conserve resources. Nhi enthusiastically participates in recycling projects for used clothing from various brands. Although she was once criticized for "showing off" when she refused to accept disposable plastic bags and cups, Nhi remains confident in the path she is pursuing. "Young people shouldn't view green living as just a trend; instead, they should experience it. This will help them understand the meaning of a healthy, environmentally friendly lifestyle," Nhi expressed.

Over the years, Vietnam has implemented numerous mechanisms, strategies, policies, and projects to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment. A prime example is the 2020 Environmental Protection Law, which includes provisions on reducing, reusing, recycling, and treating plastic waste; restricting the use of single-use plastic products and non-biodegradable plastic bags; and encouraging the production of environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional plastic products. The fact that many young people are no longer indifferent but are joining hands to build a sustainable, nature-friendly lifestyle is highly commendable. Every small action or widespread campaign contributes to spreading the meaningful message of reducing environmental pollution.
