A new report reveals that China's open-source AI is reshaping the global landscape. From 1% at the end of 2024, market share increased to nearly 30% in 2025.
Notable models include Alibaba's Qwen, DeepSeek V3, and Moonshot AI's Kimi K2. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky chose Qwen because it's "fast and cheap," and many investors are also switching to Kimi K2.
Low cost is the biggest reason; the MiniMax M2 costs only 8% as much as the Claude Sonnet 4.5. Qwen has over 170,000 community-developed derivative models. Washington warned of security risks and placed several Chinese companies on a restricted list.
Experts believe the AI race is shifting to a bipolar landscape, with the US and China acting as equal rivals. Readers are invited to watch the following video : AI-powered trash cleanup | Hanoi, 6:00 PM
