At the Vietnam Green Festival, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam's space always attracts attention with its sustainable development journey, which began very early and continues to be a pioneer in initiatives related to sustainable packaging, as well as areas such as water resources, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and products that are good for consumers' health.

30 years of "development for the greater good"

Highlights at the booth included products with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic – making the company one of the leading beverage businesses pioneering sustainable packaging initiatives.

To reduce its environmental impact, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam continuously innovates to reduce the use of virgin plastic in packaging, improves packaging to increase recyclability and biodegradability, and promotes initiatives to use recycled plastic.

Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam was the first beverage company in Vietnam to launch a product with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic - Pepsi - and the following year launched the first bottled tea in Vietnam with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic.

In line with its goal of reducing virgin plastic, the company's Aquafina product currently has the lightest packaging for bottled water globally.

Thanks to these initiatives, in 2023, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam reduced 5,700 tons of virgin plastic – equivalent to a reduction of approximately 23,000 tons of carbon emissions into the environment.

For consumers, the company continuously launches calorie-free, low-sugar, and nutrient- and vitamin-fortified products to meet their health-conscious needs.

In 2023, the company launched products such as 7Up Lemon Soda with added vitamin C and Revive Zero Calories with added vitamin B.

To date, the company has improved the formulas of many products such as Pepsi, 7Up, Tropicana Twister Orange, Revive, Oolong Tea Plus, etc., to reduce sugar content and add essential vitamins and minerals.

The company makes a positive impact on water resources by reducing water usage in production, planting forests in headwaters to regenerate groundwater and replenish water for nature, and educating primary school students nationwide about saving and protecting water.

The company is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy; currently, 5 out of 5 of its plants nationwide have installed biomass fuel to minimize carbon emissions.

Furthermore, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam is also developing sustainable packaging solutions and initiatives to minimize plastic waste and promote a circular economy .

In addition to packaging innovation, the company also promotes collection, recycling, and community awareness activities targeting informal workers to support workplace safety, promote education, and change waste sorting behavior among students – young consumers and agents of change.
