According to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, for the past two days, airports in the northern region have experienced fog and low clouds, reducing visibility below standard, negatively impacting flight operations. Many flights have been diverted or delayed.

According to meteorological forecasts, this weather pattern may continue until February 8th (the 29th day of the Lunar New Year), particularly during the night and early morning hours.

To proactively prevent, limit, and minimize the negative impacts of weather developments, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires airlines to proactively monitor weather developments, coordinate closely with airports, air traffic control centers, regional air traffic management companies, and aviation service providers at airports to develop appropriate operational plans and strategies.

Dense fog on the morning of February 2nd prevented hundreds of flights to and from Noi Bai Airport from taking off or landing.

In addition, timely notification and arrangements should be made to serve passengers in case of changes to the transportation plan.

The Civil Aviation Authority also requested the Airports Corporation of Vietnam and airports affected by the weather to strengthen the deployment of service and operational personnel at the airport, as well as promptly release aircraft and coordinate with airlines to implement handling plans in case operations are affected by weather impacts.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation is required to direct its units to coordinate with relevant meteorological facilities to promptly implement CDM (coordinated decision-making), monitor and manage flight operations in accordance with evolving weather conditions.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation is responsible for directing the Northern Regional Airport Meteorological Center, the Air Traffic Flow Management Center, and other air traffic control facilities to coordinate closely with relevant meteorological facilities to promptly implement CDM, monitor, and manage flight operations in accordance with weather developments.

Simultaneously, coordinate and support airlines and airports in operational matters, ensuring safety and minimizing negative impacts caused by weather conditions.

Airport authorities need to monitor, supervise, and manage the operational activities of airlines and service providers at airports to ensure security and safety; and handle any issues arising in aviation operations at the airport in accordance with regulations and their authority.

Earlier, on the morning of February 2nd, due to dense fog, Noi Bai Airport was unable to receive aircraft, affecting 103 flights, causing delays, diverted landings, and timeouts.
