Temporarily suspend female teacher who had intimate, offensive gestures towards male high school student

On the afternoon of October 2, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said it had received a report from Thach Ban High School, Long Bien District, regarding information that on the evening of September 30, a clip appeared on social media showing a male student teasingly hugging and stroking a female teacher's hair at the teacher's desk.

According to the school's report, the male student in the clip is TNMĐ., class 10A4, the teacher in the clip is MQT (born in 2001), a contract teacher of Literature.

The incident happened during the break between the 2nd and 3rd periods (around 9am) on September 27, in classroom 10A4. The student who filmed the clip was KTM, also in class 10A4.

As soon as the incident was reported, on the evening of September 30, the school's Board of Directors quickly exchanged information with the Long Bien District Police and contacted the teacher in the clip to confirm the incident. The Board of Directors also discussed the incident with the homeroom teacher of class 10A4.

On the morning of October 1, the school's Board of Directors listened to the opinions of the students of class 10A4, worked with the teacher in the clip and representatives of the families of the students in the clip and the families of the students who filmed the clip. The school's Board of Directors also listened to the opinions of the homeroom teacher of class 10A4, commenting on the psychological characteristics and personalities of the students in the class, including the 2 students involved in the incident.

After the meeting, the information was clarified as follows: Student TNMĐ. was an acquaintance of the teacher from before. This student admitted that he had joked excessively with the teacher and was not aware that his behavior was inappropriate at that time.

KTM (the student who filmed the clip) also realized that his behavior was wrong because at that time, he only thought he was filming the clip to tease his friend.

At the meeting, the parents of the two students involved in the incident were aware of their children's inappropriate behavior and completely agreed with the school's handling of the matter; committed to being more attentive in managing and educating their children, and hoped that the school would create conditions for their children to continue studying and practicing at school with peace of mind. The family of student TNMĐ. committed to cooperating with the school to resolve the matter.

Teacher MQT wrote a report of the incident and a self-criticism, strictly admitting her shortcomings in allowing the incident to occur.

The school has also temporarily suspended and assigned a substitute teacher to teach Ms. MQT while the matter is being resolved. The school's board of directors has also informed the teaching staff of the incident so that all members of the school can be informed and learn from the experience.

Based on the nature of the incident, the school will continue to review and discipline violators according to regulations, and do a good job of prevention to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
