From 4 PM on January 24th to 6 AM on January 25th, traffic police directed vehicles to use the emergency lane on Hanoi 's Ring Road 3.
On the afternoon of January 24th, the Hanoi Police Traffic Department announced that due to the increased volume of vehicles traveling from the city center to the city's outskirts, from 4 PM today (January 24th) to 6 AM tomorrow (January 25th), traffic police will direct vehicles into the emergency lane on the Ring Road 3.
Four patrol teams from the Traffic Police Department participated in combating traffic congestion and resolving traffic incidents in Hanoi.
"Vehicles are allowed to enter the emergency lane, but please be mindful of maintaining distance and speed to prevent accidents and yield when there are emergency vehicle signals," Hanoi traffic police advised, affirming that during lane allocation periods, authorities will not issue fines for violations of entering the emergency lane.
In addition to ensuring smooth traffic flow, traffic police will remind vehicles that stop or park illegally.
Meanwhile, from 1:30 PM on January 24th (25th day of the 12th lunar month), the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security established four task forces under the Traffic Guidance, Control and Escort Division (Traffic Police Department) to patrol and combat traffic congestion at the gateways to Hanoi.
Lieutenant Colonel Le Quang Hoa, Head of the Traffic Guidance, Control and Escort Department, said that each task force consists of two motorcycles and one car. In case of detecting incidents, traffic congestion, or passenger buses stopping or picking up/dropping off passengers illegally, the teams will immediately report to the Traffic Police Team in charge of the area for handling.
With the advantage of mobile patrolling and quick response, traffic police teams on motorcycles will help reduce traffic congestion, handle incidents quickly, and support people returning home for the Lunar New Year holiday smoothly.
Traffic congestion caused by passenger buses picking up and dropping off passengers will be regulated by traffic police accordingly.
In addition to patrolling to prevent traffic congestion, traffic police also remind drivers of cars and taxis if they stop or park illegally; and guide ambulances through localized traffic jams.
"The task forces of the Traffic Police Department will be on duty throughout the Tet holiday so that people can enjoy a peaceful holiday," Lieutenant Colonel Le Quang Hoa affirmed.
