New overseas Vietnamese recruit tries his hand at Vietnam U20 women's team

(NLDO) - The Vietnam U20 women's team is actively training with the participation of rookie Linda Pham on the journey towards the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers.

On the afternoon of July 4, the Vietnam U20 women's team started training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center ( Hanoi ), aiming for the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers. This training session took place in an exciting atmosphere, with a high level of concentration from the players.

The highlight of this afternoon's training session was the appearance of rookie Linda Pham - a Vietnamese-American player born in 2006. This was Linda's first training session with the Vietnamese youth team. The Vietnam Football Federation and coach Okiyama Masahiko created conditions for the young rookie to test herself, prove her ability and ability to integrate.

According to the profile, Linda Pham is a Vietnamese citizen, born and raised in the Netherlands in a family with both Vietnamese parents. She is 1.68 m tall, started playing football at the age of 6 and is currently playing for a club in the Netherlands, specializing in attacking midfielder and striker.

Her presence not only brings more professional options to the team, but also creates a new vitality and healthy competition in preparation for the upcoming tournament.

On the coaching staff side, coach Okiyama Masahiko said: “We are gradually perfecting our personnel and tactics for the qualifying round. The players are very determined, especially with important matches ahead against Kyrgyzstan, Singapore and Hong Kong (China). Having new faces like Linda Pham will help the team have more options and resilience.”

Despite her limited Vietnamese, Linda quickly integrated into the team thanks to the enthusiastic and friendly help from her teammates.

In the coming days, the team will continue to train both physically and tactically, while also conducting internal matches and training sessions to test the performance of each position.

With a serious spirit, discipline and desire to perform, the Vietnam U20 women's team is aiming to pass the qualifying round to win a ticket to the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Championship.
