On December 3, at the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Creative Entrepreneurship, the Mosla mosquito trap product was officially launched with the project "With Mosla - No worries about dengue fever", aiming to accompany the community in the work of preventing and fighting diseases transmitted by mosquitoes.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoe, founder of Mosla, said the product was formed in 2015 after he directly witnessed the rapid proliferation of mosquitoes in many localities and the increase in dengue fever.
From rudimentary materials such as iron nets and home-based experimental models, he continuously improved to create the Mosla mosquito trap as it is today. The trap's mechanism is quite special: attracting mosquitoes to lay eggs, keeping larvae developing inside and preventing adult mosquitoes from escaping into the environment. The product does not use electricity, does not use chemicals, and is suitable for humid areas where mosquitoes easily breed.

In 2023, Mr. Khoe was more eager to bring the product to market after successfully treating mosquitoes in a stagnant lake. During a business trip to Tay Ninh , he witnessed an ecological lake with a surface area of only 10 m2 but a dense population of mosquitoes. He decided to bring equipment to install, treat, and prevent mosquitoes from breeding and spreading into the environment. After only one month, the number of mosquitoes on the surface of the lake almost disappeared.
By 2024, Mosla mosquito trap won third prize in the Dong Nai province Innovation and Startup Competition. The patent application has now been approved by the Intellectual Property Office. Over the past 10 years, Mr. Khoe estimates that he has invested more than 2 billion VND to perfect the solution.
At the event, Dr. Truong Huu Khanh, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Infectious Diseases Association, commented that Mosla has a great advantage because it does not use chemicals and limits the situation of mistakenly killing beneficial insects, which often happens when using insect killer lamps.
This epidemiologist assessed the mechanism of “gaps for larvae to pass through but prevent mosquitoes from escaping” as an important difference, contributing to reducing mosquito populations over time and being environmentally friendly.

Through decades of contact with inventions, startups, large and small projects at home and abroad, Dr. Bui Van Quyen, Chairman of the Vietnam Invention Association, believes that inventions must solve practical problems and make money for businesses to survive.
He recognized that Mosla mosquito traps have many remarkable points, simple, easy to use and suitable for the economic conditions of the majority of people. At the same time, he highly appreciated creativity originating from practice, cherished inventions that at first glance have simple structures but high intellectual content, serious investment, focusing on solving problems in life.
Within the framework of the campaign “Have Mosla - Don’t worry about dengue fever”, Mosla will sponsor 1,000 mosquito traps to areas with high mosquito density such as riverside areas, post-flood areas, livestock farms, hospitals, schools, factories, etc. The donation will be coordinated with the Youth Union and representatives of local units to ensure the products reach the right place.
In addition, Mosla plans to build a “Mosquito Control Center” in Ho Chi Minh City to continue researching and implementing sustainable mosquito control solutions; and at the same time, prepare to expand its products to countries with strong dengue fever epidemics in the Americas, Africa, the Middle East and many Asian countries.
