Strengthening coordination to combat financial crimes in An Giang

Acting Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 15 Branch, Tran Van Phuoc, spoke at the signing ceremony of the coordination regulations.

Recently, An Giang Provincial Police received information and crime reports from the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 15 Branch, and credit institutions, thereby investigating and handling 7 cases of lending violations, negativity, and corruption.

In the field of combating counterfeit money crimes, the authorities handled 20 cases, with 62 defendants; proposed to prosecute 16 cases, and continue to investigate 3 cases. The provincial police prosecuted 15 cases of taking advantage of bank maturity to appropriate assets and investigated 20 subjects related to high-tech crimes and illegal trading of credit information.

Acting Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 15 Branch, Tran Van Phuoc, and Deputy Director of An Giang Provincial Police, Dao Hai Dang, signed the coordination regulations.

The coordination regulations were built to enhance information exchange; protect the security of the banking system and special events and money transfers; promote the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing; coordinate the application of population data in digital transformation; and deploy solutions to prevent high-tech crimes.

Deputy Director of An Giang Provincial Police Dao Hai Dang awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with achievements in implementing the coordination regulations between the two sectors.

Acting Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Branch 15, Tran Van Phuoc, said: “An Giang is the province with the third largest population in the country, with a stable economic development and an expanding banking system with 80 branches and 42 people's credit funds, covering 102 communes, wards and special zones. The total asset scale of the industry has exceeded 300 trillion VND, products and services are diverse, and digital applications are increasingly widespread.”

In order for these potentials to contribute effectively to socio-economic development, ensuring safety and security in the monetary and banking sector is extremely necessary. Therefore, the conference to summarize and sign the coordination regulations to implement Regulation No. 04/QCPH-BCA-NHNN between An Giang Provincial Police and the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 15 branch, has an important meaning in order to strengthen responsibility and improve coordination efficiency in ensuring security and order in the banking sector in the coming time.
