According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , on the afternoon of March 12th at the Party Central Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Nate Franklin, founder and chairman of Pacifico Energy (PE) Corporation of the United States.
Clean and stable electricity for double-digit growth
During the meeting, the General Secretary welcomed and highly appreciated the practical and effective contributions of PE Group and Mr. Nate Franklin personally to Vietnam's development in the field of renewable energy and Vietnam-US relations.
He affirmed that the US is one of Vietnam's leading economic partners, and the framework of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is creating new space and opportunities for American businesses to invest and operate in Vietnam.
Sharing Vietnam's vision and determination to become a high-income developed country by 2045, the General Secretary emphasized that the Vietnamese Party and Government will continue to create favorable conditions, including institutional reforms, for domestic and foreign investors to do business effectively in Vietnam.
Vietnam will remain committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
To achieve those growth targets, the Party leader emphasized that Vietnam needs a stable power supply, especially clean energy.
The Vietnamese government and its ministries and agencies have actively worked to improve the legal framework to provide a basis for energy corporations to invest in Vietnam, thereby meeting the growth needs of Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region.
In that spirit, the General Secretary suggested that PE Group continue to expand cooperation and investment in Vietnam, including new energy transition projects and accelerating the implementation of projects currently underway.
He also suggested that PE Group strengthen cooperation with businesses in Vietnam, promote technology transfer, and support and share experience with Vietnamese partners to improve their capacity and expertise in wind energy and renewable energy development.
The platform aims to attract more American businesses to invest.

For his part, Mr. Nate Franklin sincerely thanked the General Secretary for taking the time to receive the delegation, highly appreciating the directives of senior Vietnamese leaders on improving the investment and business environment, as well as the active and effective support of Vietnamese ministries, departments and localities for American businesses.
He also expressed confidence that under the leadership and strategic vision of General Secretary To Lam and other Vietnamese leaders, Vietnam will achieve its set development goals.
In informing the General Secretary about PE's projects in Vietnam, Mr. Franklin affirmed that Vietnam has great potential for developing offshore wind power.
The group is currently accelerating the survey and construction of offshore wind power projects in Vietnam to help Vietnam achieve double-digit growth in the near future.
The Chairman of PE Group also emphasized that the success of projects in Vietnam is the most concrete evidence of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United States, hoping that this will be the foundation to attract more US businesses to invest in Vietnam.
In his capacity, he pledged that the corporation would continue to invest further in wind power and renewable energy in Vietnam, contributing to Vietnam's rapid and sustainable economic growth as well as the development of bilateral relations.
Vietnam's energy sector is attracting investors.
Following the restart of the nuclear power project in Ninh Thuan, Vietnam has received significant interest from countries and businesses with strong energy capabilities.
On March 12, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received the French Ambassador to Vietnam, Olivier Brochet, and Mr. Erkki Maillard, Director of International and Government Affairs and Advisor to the Chairman of the French Electricity Group EDF.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister requested EDF to continue expanding investment and promoting green and clean energy in Vietnam, while also supporting Vietnamese partners in developing nuclear power projects.
EDF has experience in implementing large-scale nuclear projects. Sixty-six reactors were built in less than 30 years during the early stages of the French nuclear program, and 70% of France's electricity is produced from these reactors.
Over the past 15 years, EDF has been building 3rd generation reactors, EPR pressurized water reactors. Currently, there are 4 3rd generation reactors in operation in China (2), in Finland (1) and in France (1).
These reactors could be developed in either 1,650 MW or 1,200 MW versions. The trip to Vietnam is part of EDF's ambitious effort to play a significant role in the resurgence of nuclear energy internationally.
