On the morning of August 29th, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development organized a training course to provide in-depth knowledge to officials and stakeholders on the exploitation and development of brands and intellectual property rights for OCOP products throughout the province.
Lawyer Luu Ba Hoi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AMC Company, presented the role of intellectual property in production and business.
Attending the opening ceremony of the training course were representatives from the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development; Science and Technology; Natural Resources and Environment; Industry and Trade; Health ; Culture and Sports; Tourism; the OCOP product evaluation and ranking councils of districts and cities; and more than 100 entities with products achieving 3 stars or higher participating in the Ninh Binh Province One Commune One Product Program, Phase II, 2024.
Over the years, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has continued to spread widely and develop strongly in localities. Products that meet the standards have combined local characteristics and traditional culture with the application of science and technology, resulting in diversity, richness, and quality. By the end of 2023, the province had 183 products meeting the standards, including 70 products achieving 4-star rating and 113 products achieving 3-star rating.
During the training course, officials and participants in the One Commune One Product Program received knowledge from experts on: Intellectual property and intellectual property protection; the role of intellectual property in the production and business of products in general and OCOP products in particular; branding and the role of branding in the development of OCOP products; and registering intellectual property for OCOP products abroad.
Specifically, stakeholders received knowledge on: designing and using intellectual property signs in packaging and labels of OCOP products; creating, managing, and exploiting intellectual property assets for OCOP products; the role of trademarks for stakeholders and exploiting community value through the use of geographical indications, certification marks, and collective marks.
The training session took place over two days, from August 29th to 30th.
