(Dan Tri) - After the unsuccessful opening of the high-speed ferry route from Nha Be to Con Dao, the company moved the departure point to Ben Nha Rong in the hope of attracting more passengers.

On the morning of March 21, the Department of Transport and Public Works of Ho Chi Minh City announced the operation of a high-speed boat route to Con Dao district ( Ba Ria - Vung Tau province).

The ship departs from Nha Rong Port (HCMC) to Ben Dam Port (Con Dao) with a travel time of more than 5 hours and 30 minutes (speed 25-27 nautical miles/hour). Frequency of one trip per day.

The operator of the train route is Thanh Thanh Phat Transport Company Limited. The vehicle used is the Phu Quy Express high-speed train, 41.26m long and 10.2m wide. The train can carry 374 passengers, including 280 beds and 94 seats, with air conditioning.

Sharing with the press, Mr. Tran Song Hai, representative of the company operating the train route, said that moving the departure point to District 4 instead of Nha Be or Can Gio will create more convenience for passengers. Previously, traveling from the city center to Can Gio Port or Hiep Phuoc (Nha Be) to catch a train to Con Dao was inconvenient.

Departing from the city center also means the ship must pass through a busy river route. Therefore, Mr. Hai affirmed that safety must be emphasized.

Sharing at the event, Mr. Bui Hoa An, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport and Public Works of Ho Chi Minh City, said that Saigon Port (District 4) was originally a cargo port and has just been converted into a passenger port.

"Currently, the port, waterway and policy issues are favorable, just waiting for businesses to pay attention and participate in opening routes," Mr. An shared.

Previously, Ho Chi Minh City launched a high-speed ferry route from Hiep Phuoc Port (Nha Be) to Con Dao. However, the company only operated the ferry route for nearly 2 months and then temporarily stopped it due to inefficiency.
