
The working session was attended by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Xuan Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan, and representatives from the leadership of various departments and agencies of the province.
Reporting at the meeting, the Secretary of the Tay Giang District Party Committee, Bhling Mia, stated that after 20 years since the district's re-establishment, the socio -economic situation of Tay Giang district has been maintained and grown quite comprehensively, infrastructure has developed synchronously, and culture and society have seen positive changes. Policy beneficiaries and those who have contributed to the revolution have received attention and care, and the percentage of poor and near-poor households has decreased significantly each year (an average of 5%).
Per capita income has increased 17.5 times compared to 2003 (from 1.4 million VND to 24.5 million VND). Planning and resettlement of the population, linked with disaster prevention, has received special attention and focus. To date, 123 resettlement sites/63 villages have been arranged, and over 5,000 ethnic minority households have been settled in stable, becoming a "bright spot" in resettlement and highly appreciated by the province.

The percentage of households using the national power grid in Tay Giang currently exceeds 96%. The national target program has achieved several important results, and the movement to build new rural areas and model new rural villages has been implemented successfully. The management, protection, and development of forests have received special attention and consistent, decisive leadership and guidance; to date, the forest cover rate has reached 73%.
Furthermore, cultural values continue to be preserved, protected, and developed; political security, border security, and social order in the district are maintained. Foreign relations and development cooperation between neighboring districts, especially Ka Lum district and Dak Chung district (Sekong province, Laos), are strengthened...
In particular, 2023 was the mid-term year for implementing the Resolutions of the Party Congress at all levels. Despite facing many difficulties and challenges, Tay Giang district achieved many important results in the fields of socio-economic development, national defense and security, Party building, and the political system... with all 16/16 resolution targets being met or exceeded.
Tay Giang proposed that the Provincial Party Committee establish specific mechanisms and policies to enable the district to attract organizations, individuals, businesses, and legitimate non-governmental organizations to cooperate and invest in development in several areas, such as ecotourism , medicinal plant development under forest canopy, sustainable reforestation, carbon credit trading policies, and programs and projects that create livelihoods for people in border areas to participate in and benefit from.
At the same time, it was proposed that the Provincial Party Committee provide funding and support for the construction of a new headquarters for the Tay Giang District Party Committee, with an estimated total cost of approximately 40 billion VND. It was also proposed to supplement the planning of the transportation system connecting Tay Giang district with Nam Dong district (Thua Thien Hue province), with a length of approximately 28km, to create inter-provincial connectivity between Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue; and to continue requesting the Central Government to invest in upgrading and expanding National Highway 14G...

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that Tay Giang is a land rich in potential and advantages, and also a locality with a rich revolutionary tradition. It is an extremely important locality in terms of national defense, security, and foreign relations, with 8 border communes adjacent to Laos.
Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet stated that, thanks to support from the province, Tay Giang has experienced significantly more development compared to other mountainous localities. However, due to the complex mountainous terrain, Tay Giang still faces many challenges that need to be addressed in the future, especially in poverty reduction and improving the living standards of people in mountainous areas.
To overcome difficulties and obstacles in the coming period, Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested that the provincial departments and agencies, with a spirit of responsibility, pay more attention to helping Tay Giang overcome its difficulties soon. Based on upholding traditions and unity, Tay Giang needs to continue to maintain its aspiration for development, disseminate information to the people to understand the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State, and avoid unexpected situations.

"Tay Giang has a very good motto: As long as the forest remains, Tay Giang will develop. Therefore, it is necessary to pay close attention to and strictly handle cases of forest encroachment. We need to strengthen propaganda to raise people's awareness of protecting the forest and enriching themselves from it in the future," emphasized Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet.
