'Tay Ninh is a bright spot in recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic'

On the morning of October 7th, as part of the "Tay Ninh Day in Hanoi" event, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province organized a tourism promotion conference titled "Tay Ninh's Flavors and Colors 2023" in Hoan Kiem District (Hanoi).

According to Mr. Vo Duc Trong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province, the "Tay Ninh Day in Hanoi " event, taking place from October 7-8, aims to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2023) and promote the image of Tay Ninh to the people of the capital and domestic and international tourists.

The event is expected to become a highlight to enhance the introduction and promotion of the people, culture, and tourism of Tay Ninh to visitors, while contributing to attracting investment and promoting socio-economic development in general and the culture and tourism of Tay Ninh province in particular.

Summarizing the immense potential of Tay Ninh tourism, Ms. Tran Nguyen, Deputy General Director of Sun World Group, stated that with 95 ranked historical sites, 8 intangible cultural heritage sites, and especially famous spiritual destinations such as the Ba Den Mountain tourist area, the Cao Dai Holy See, and the special national historical site of the Central Committee of the Southern Region, Tay Ninh possesses many strengths to develop diverse types of tourism that many other destinations can only dream of. However, the local tourism industry still faces many challenges and shortcomings.

Based on its potential and strengths, Ms. Nguyen suggested that Tay Ninh's tourism industry should aim to become a leading cultural destination in Vietnam and reach international standards. Accordingly, the core issue remains tourism development planning, followed by the decisive involvement of local authorities and the people, and importantly, the selection of investors with sufficient vision and capacity to implement projects, along with strict management to consistently improve service quality at the destination.

Regarding solutions, it is necessary to develop a sustainable tourism development strategy, positioning tourism as a cultural strength of Tay Ninh; at the same time, it is crucial to promote investment in transportation infrastructure, technical facilities, services, entertainment, and resort tourism in a comprehensive and modern manner. Culture, in particular, is a unique strength that Tay Ninh needs to exploit more systematically and thoroughly.

It needs to be linked to many experiential activities.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, assessed that over the years, Tay Ninh's tourism industry has made bold and wise investments. After the Covid-19 pandemic, Tay Ninh has become a bright spot in recovery. The number of tourists visiting the locality has increased, and Tay Ninh's tourism products have become more diverse.

Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, delivered a speech at the conference.

To further develop the tourism industry, Mr. Siêu suggested that the locality should properly orient itself and identify market segments for the northern region. In addition, for tourism products, there needs to be continued innovation to diversify offerings and extend the length of stay and experience for tourists.

"Historically, while many people visit Tay Ninh, their stay is usually less than one night. Therefore, tourism needs to be linked to other experiential activities, so that when visitors stay overnight, they can experience these activities. We need to develop products and activities for nighttime to encourage tourists to stay; otherwise, tourists will only visit for the day and then move on to other places," Mr. Sieu expressed.

Also at this morning's conference, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province organized a seminar to exchange ideas, propose suggestions, and contribute initiatives and actions to promote and exploit the potential of Tay Ninh tourism, while also seeking solutions to increase the attraction of tourists from Hanoi and the North to this locality.

Most speakers agreed that despite possessing unique strengths for developing various types of tourism, Tay Ninh province is still neglecting opportunities in ecotourism, cultural tourism, and other areas. Furthermore, tourism promotion efforts need to be strengthened to more effectively reach and promote tourism in both domestic and international markets.

Tourism representatives and experts attending the seminar offered new perspectives and proposed initiatives and solutions to overcome limitations, leverage strengths, and promote the development of tourism in Tay Ninh.

During the "Tay Ninh Day in Hanoi" event series, taking place from October 7-8, various activities will be organized around the Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian area (Hoan Kiem District), including: displaying and promoting industrial, agricultural, and commercial products; OCOP products; souvenirs; and tourism services.
