Recently, the great flood in late October and early November 2025, many areas in Hue city were isolated, making the transportation of goods difficult. However, thanks to the strong direction of the government and the efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the distribution system, businesses and small traders, the local commodity market quickly stabilized, the supply of essential goods was guaranteed, and prices only increased slightly in some groups of fresh goods.

According to records on the morning of November 5, trading activities at central markets such as Dong Ba, Ben Ngu, An Cuu, Cong market... have become bustling again. Many essential food and food items are fully displayed, meeting people's needs. Traders said that the prices of meat, fish, and dried goods remained almost the same, only vegetables and fruits increased slightly because the supply from the highlands had not arrived in time, some items such as cauliflower, cabbage, beans, and eggplants doubled compared to normal days.

Ms. Huong just finished buying a bunch of vegetables at Cong market and said that she has only been to the market since the flood. Although it was after the big flood, goods are quite abundant. Pork belly, rice, and cooking oil prices have not increased much compared to normal days, only green vegetables have increased quite a bit in price.

In addition, after the floodwaters receded, the supermarket system, convenience stores, and traditional markets in Hue resumed operations. Large retail businesses such as Aeon Mall Hue, Co.opMart Hue, Go! Hue, WinMart, Bach Hoa Xanh... quickly resupplied goods from transit warehouses, prioritizing food, beverages, gas, gasoline, and dry goods.

A representative of Co.opMart Hue said that the stock level remains high, enough to supply the market for at least the next 2-3 weeks. At the same time, they are ready to transfer goods from neighboring provinces if demand suddenly increases.

Head of Dong Ba Market Management Board, Bui Thi Thu Hang, said that just one day after the water receded and power was restored, most of the traders at the market opened for business, without any interruption in the supply of goods.

In low-lying areas such as Phong Dien, Quang Dien, and Phu Vang, although there is still some flooding, many traditional markets have gradually resumed operations. Small traders have proactively stocked up on goods in advance, so there has been no shortage of goods or unusual price increases.

At shopping malls and supermarkets, goods are abundant and prices have not increased.

The Industry and Trade sector proactively supplies and closely monitors goods.

The leader of the Department of Industry and Trade of Hue City said that after the flood, the quick restoration of electricity, water and telecommunications systems also created conditions for production and business to operate normally. Many supermarkets and convenience stores launched promotions and discounts on food and household goods, helping people easily access safe goods at reasonable prices.

From October 29 to November 4, the Department of Industry and Trade of Hue City has provided reserve goods to support people in flood-hit areas with a total value of more than 9.7 billion VND. Including 31,800 boxes of instant noodles, 15,600 boxes of milk, 16,200 liters of gasoline and 4,200 liters of oil. The goods were distributed promptly, helping people to stabilize their lives soon after the natural disaster. The reserve goods in the area up to now are more than 100 tons of rice, more than 23,000 boxes of instant noodles, nearly 30,000 boxes of fresh milk stored at Go Hue units, Go Huong Tra supermarket, Thai Dong Anh, Aeon supermarket, Van Thanh Company, Co.omart Hue...

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, after this flood, the response capacity of the goods distribution system in Hue has been significantly improved. Large enterprises all have plans to stockpile on-site and distribute supplies reasonably; localities have arranged transit points and transport teams ready to support when traffic is disrupted.

After the flood, green vegetables and fruits are the items that attract buyers, prices double compared to normal.

In addition, before, during and after the flood, the Hue City Market Management Department assigned staff to be on duty 24/7 to grasp the situation and promptly handle any arising situations. This force increased market inspection and control, especially with essential goods, to prevent speculation, hoarding, and unreasonable price increases.

Mr. Nguyen Chanh Vu, Head of the Hue City Market Management Department, said that immediately after the flood receded, the market management force went directly to markets and supermarkets such as Aeon Mall, Go, CoopMart, An Lo market, Tu Ha, Pho Trach, Quang Dien Trade Center... to check the goods. The results showed that prices were stable, supply was abundant, and there was no speculation or hoarding.

“ Up to this point, most businesses in Hue city have been operating normally. Some locations in low-lying areas are still cleaning up to reopen soon.
