Weather on October 29: Heavy rain from Hue City to Quang Ngai, high risk of flash floods and landslides

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this morning, October 29, in Hue City, Da Nang City and the East of Quang Ngai, there was moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain. The rainfall recorded at some stations such as: Bach Ma Peak (Hue City), Tra Van (Da Nang City), Son Lap (Quang Ngai) all exceeded 170mm.

It is forecasted that on October 29, Hue City and Da Nang City will continue to have heavy to very heavy rain, with rainfall ranging from 120-250mm, and locally exceeding 400mm. Southern Quang Tri and Eastern Quang Ngai will have rain ranging from 80-180mm, with very heavy rain exceeding 350mm in some places. Provinces from Ha Tinh to Northern Quang Tri will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall ranging from 70-140mm, and locally exceeding 250mm in some places.

On October 29, the Northern provinces, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have some rain, sunny in the afternoon. However, from tonight, the Thanh Hoa - Nghe An area will have rain, moderate rain, some places will have heavy rain and thunderstorms.

In the Central Highlands, the South and the East of Gia Lai - Lam Dong provinces, there will also be rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 20-40mm, locally over 100mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Currently, the flood on the Huong River and the Bo River (Hue City) is receding; the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River (Da Nang City) is fluctuating at a high level; the Tra Khuc River (Quang Ngai) is rising. In the next 24 hours, the water level of the Bo River at Phu Oc will drop below alert level 3, the Huong River at Kim Long will remain above alert level 3. The flood on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River is still 1.1 - 1.2m higher than alert level 3; the Tra Khuc River continues to rise, at alert level 2 - alert level 3.

Widespread flooding in Hue and Da Nang cities may persist for the next few days. There is a high risk of flash floods and landslides. From October 30, heavy rains in the area from Hue to Quang Ngai will gradually decrease. Floods and inundation in low-lying areas may affect transportation, aquaculture, agricultural production and people's lives.

At sea, strong northeast wind level 5-6, gusting to level 7 in Con Co and Bach Long Vy areas; Ly Son island in particular has gusts of level 8.

Forecast for the day and night of October 29, the northern East Sea will have strong northeast winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9; waves 3-5m high, rough seas. In addition, in the southern Gulf of Tonkin, the sea from South Quang Tri to Ca Mau, the East Sea area (including Hoang Sa and Truong Sa seas) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of level 6-7.

The Northeastern region is cloudy, sunny during the day; there is rain in some places at night, with scattered rain in the plains and coastal areas. Northeast wind level 2-3. Cold in the early morning and at night, some places in the mountains are cold. The lowest temperature is 20-23 degrees Celsius, some places in the mountains are below 19 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature is 26-29 degrees Celsius, some places are above 29 degrees Celsius.

The provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue in the North (Thanh Hoa - Nghe An) are cloudy, with some rain during the day and showers at night; the South is cloudy, with moderate rain, heavy rain, and locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms, especially in the South of Quang Tri and Hue City. There will be heavy to very heavy rain. The wind from the north to the northwest is level 2-3. The early morning and night are cold. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature is 20-23 degrees Celsius. Ho Chi Minh City is cloudy with rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain (rain concentrated in the afternoon and night). West to southwest wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 23-25 ​​degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 28-30 degrees Celsius.
