Thac Ba Hydropower Plant opens 2 sluice gates to regulate water from tonight, September 9

On the afternoon of September 9, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued an urgent dispatch directing the opening of the discharge gate to regulate the Thac Ba hydropower reservoir to ensure the safety of the project and downstream.

According to the official dispatch, at 9:00 AM on September 9th, the water level upstream of Thac Ba Lake reached 57.42m (the permitted limit is 57m).

Based on the Red River Reservoir Operation Procedure approved by the Prime Minister , the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requests Thac Ba Hydropower Joint Stock Company to open spillway gates No. 1 and 3 from 8 PM today to bring the water level down to 57m, and then adjust the opening degree to maintain stability.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requires the operating unit to closely monitor the developments of rainfall and flooding, the safety of the structure, the inflow into the reservoir, and the water levels upstream and downstream, and to report promptly to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and other relevant agencies.
