Thac Ba Hydropower Plant opens 2 sluice gates to regulate water from tonight, September 9

On the afternoon of September 9, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued an urgent dispatch directing the opening of the discharge gate to regulate the Thac Ba hydropower reservoir to ensure the safety of the project and downstream.

According to the dispatch, at 9:00 a.m. on September 9, the water level upstream of Thac Ba Lake reached 57.42m (the allowable limit is 57m).

Pursuant to the Red River Inter-Reservoir Operation Procedure approved by the Prime Minister , the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requested Thac Ba Hydropower Joint Stock Company to open sluice gates No. 1 and 3 from 8:00 p.m. today to bring the water level to 57m, then adjust the opening to maintain stability.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requires the operating unit to closely monitor the development of rain and floods, construction safety, flow to the lake and upstream and downstream water levels, and promptly report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and relevant agencies.
