In 2025, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly focused on directing and guiding localities to implement 10 groups of tasks and solutions. and Work program; coordinating with ministries and agencies to advise the Government on the issuance of the National Strategy for the Elderly, the issuance of the project "The Elderly Participating in Promoting Digital Transformation, Green Transformation, Entrepreneurship, and Job Creation", and the project "Expanding Intergenerational Clubs by 2035"...

The Central Committee of the Association also actively guided localities in organizing successful conferences to contribute to the draft documents submitted to the 14th National Congress of the Party (with 1.2 million elderly people participating and giving feedback); effectively implemented social welfare work and sustainable poverty reduction; the associations at all levels mobilized and distributed 64,000 gifts; built 45 solidarity houses, purchased 1,000 health insurance cards for elderly people nationwide... with a total cost of approximately 27 billion VND.
However, to date, three provinces and cities (Can Tho City, Cao Bang, and Quang Ninh) have not yet completed the merger and consolidation of associations according to the two-tiered local government model; nearly 50% of the commune-level Elderly Associations have not completed the merger and establishment of associations as prescribed, are slow to streamline their organizational structure, lack funds for care, and have weak innovation in their activities.

At the conference, delegates also expressed their desire for the Central Association to direct provinces and cities to soon finalize specific policies and mechanisms to encourage the socialization of building nursing homes so that elderly people can choose to "settle down" there; the work of consolidating and merging associations should also be implemented more quickly; and the "Elderly - Shining Examples" movement should continue to be implemented as a key task for 2026.

On this occasion, 4 units were awarded the national emulation flag by the Central Committee of the Association; 9 units received the flag for leading units in their respective emulation clusters (blocks); and 260 collectives and individuals were awarded certificates of merit for outstanding achievements in association work.
Currently, there are nearly 17 million elderly people nationwide, accounting for 17% of the total population. By 2025, over 408,563 new members will be admitted; the total number of members will exceed 12 million, operating in 3,482 grassroots associations, 80,447 branches, and 159,542 sub-branches. 100% of communes and wards with elderly people have an elderly association.
