Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Anh researches initiatives and technical improvements.

Born and raised in Cu Chi commune ( Ho Chi Minh City) in a family with a revolutionary tradition, his love for his country and pride in the military were formed early on. Therefore, when he entered the Army Officer School 2, he was determined to strive for serious training and personal growth.

Throughout his four years of study, he consistently achieved the title of Outstanding Soldier at the grassroots level, and in 2022 he was honored with the Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Soldier of the entire army from the Minister of National Defense .

After graduating in 2022, Lieutenant Anh was assigned to work at Regiment 5, Division 5. There, he successively held the positions of Platoon Leader, Deputy Company Commander, and now Company Commander. Regardless of his position, he has always left a mark of dedication, responsibility, and exemplary conduct.

Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Anh stated: “Studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh is the guiding principle in my work. With a spirit of setting an example, responsibility, and dedication, I always strive to complete my assigned tasks well, contributing to building a strong and comprehensive unit.”

During the training, Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Anh observed that the simulation system used in the exercises was still simple and rudimentary, mainly performed manually and posing potential safety risks, especially when simulating B41 and SPG-9 fire targets; the aircraft models and smoke and fire effects on the training ground were also limited; and the application of science and technology in the exercises was not yet widespread.

These concerns motivated him to research and develop the "Smoke and Fire Simulation Device for Training Exercises." The device simulates the effect of a B41 shell explosion, controlled remotely via a signal transmitter and receiver. The combustion process at the target is activated by a heating element and a flammable mixture containing KNO₃, creating smoke and fire effects similar to real shells but ensuring safety by eliminating the need for soldiers to directly approach and ignite the fire at the target location. This initiative won the Division-level B prize in 2025.

Previously, checking aiming and evaluating the results of shooting practice with the STV-380 submachine gun relied heavily on the experience of the training officers, sometimes lacking accuracy and intuitiveness. Modern support equipment on the market was expensive and difficult to apply in infantry units.

Based on that experience, he and his teammates successfully developed the "DA01 AI Camera-Based Shooting Training Device." The device is directly attached to the gun, connected via Bluetooth to a mini-processor. When the learner pulls the trigger, the signal is transmitted to the AI camera, which identifies the target, analyzes the image, and immediately provides feedback via a Bluetooth speaker; simultaneously, it displays the data on a computer, allowing officers to visually observe the aiming line, firing direction, and bullet group. This initiative won a Class A award at the Military Region level in 2025.

“The device helps to check more accurately and allows trainees to recognize mistakes immediately. With each test firing, soldiers can clearly see the deviation and focus of the bullet trajectory, thereby correcting their movements and improving their live firing results. The device is compact, easy to use, and saves time and costs, contributing significantly to improving the quality of training,” shared Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Anh.

Not only passionate about technical research, Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Anh is also a close-knit company commander who knows how to inspire a spirit of competition among officers and soldiers. Within the unit, he always speaks with sincerity, guides with patience, and sets an example through practical actions. Therefore, he is trusted by his comrades, respected by his soldiers, and highly regarded by his superiors.

Lieutenant Colonel Do The Anh, Political Commissar of Regiment 5, commented: “Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Anh is young but very mature, has a creative mindset, and is always seeking to improve training methods. His initiatives are highly applicable, helping the unit save time and money, and improve the quality of training assessment.”

With the results achieved, Company 6 has just been recommended by the Regiment and Division to the Military Region for the title of "Unit of Outstanding Achievement" in 2025. This is a well-deserved recognition for the collective efforts, including the important contribution of the young, enthusiastic, and dynamic Company Commander.
