According to the announcement of Tri An Hydropower Company, at 6:00 p.m. on November 9, the water flow from upstream to the lake reached 1,510 m3/s, the upstream water level of the lake reached 61.84 m (design elevation 62 m).
Based on the downstream water level measured at Bien Hoa hydrological station, which has passed the peak of the high tide and will gradually decrease in the following days; based on the upstream water level and water flow to the reservoir, to ensure the safety of the project and not cause sudden changes in the flow downstream, Tri An Hydropower Company will gradually increase the amount of water released through the spillway to regulate the reservoir.
Specifically, at 8:00 a.m. on November 10, the water flow discharged through the spillway of Tri An hydroelectric reservoir increased from 480 m3/s to 640 m3/s; the water flow through the power turbine was 750 - 800 m3/s; the total water flow discharged downstream was 1,390 - 1,440 m3/s.
Depending on weather developments, water flow into the lake, water level of Tri An hydroelectric reservoir, water level downstream of the river at Bien Hoa hydrological station, Tri An Hydroelectric Company can change the water flow regulated through the spillway.
Tri An Hydropower Company informs relevant local authorities to direct, coordinate and notify people downstream of the reservoir to proactively take preventive measures to avoid possible damage.
This is the second consecutive increase in flood discharge volume by Tri An Hydropower Company in two days. Previously, on November 9, this unit increased the flow volume from 160 m3/s by 3 times, to 480 m3/s and by 8:00 a.m. on November 10, it increased to 640 m3/s.
Tri An Hydroelectric Reservoir has a capacity of more than 2.7 billion m3 of water, making it the largest reservoir in the southern provinces.
In addition to its main function of generating electricity with a capacity of 400 MW, supplying electricity to the national grid, Tri An Lake also has the function of ensuring water for daily life, agriculture , repelling salinity and regulating floods for the downstream area of Dong Nai River.
