Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) has just sent a document to the People's Committee of Dak Nong province requesting to implement the project to expand and increase the capacity of Nhan Co Alumina Plant in Nhan Co commune, Dak R'lap district, Dak Nong province. TKV plans to invest nearly 30,000 billion VND to build a second alumina (aluminum) production line with a capacity of about 1.2 million tons/year, raising the total capacity of the entire complex to 2 million tons of alumina/year.

According to TKV, the project is completely consistent with the mineral planning, as well as the current capacity and technical progress in alumina production. The total land area serving the project is nearly 700 hectares; of which, the factory part of about 100 hectares is arranged in the current alumina factory site, the rest is auxiliary items, works serving production, maintaining production, protecting the environment... The finished products of the project include alumina and hydrate. The project implementation period is from 2025 to 2030.

Nhan Co Alumina Factory

Nhan Co Alumina Factory has a designed capacity of 650,000 tons, started construction on February 28, 2010 and put into commercial operation on July 1, 2017. Over the past time, the factory has always been operated stably, ensuring good quality output products. From the time it came into operation to 2024, the converted alumina output of Nhan Co Alumina Complex reached 5.47 million tons. The project has paid the State budget 4,438 billion VND, of which 538 billion VND in 2024 alone; at the same time, it has created direct jobs for more than 1,100 workers, with an average income of over 14 million VND/person/month.

According to the assessment, when the project comes into operation, it will bring many socio -economic benefits to the locality. In particular, the revenue (export) of Nhan Co Alumina Factory will reach about 10,684 billion VND/year and the net profit before tax will be about 4,425 billion VND/year. The factory will contribute about 700 billion VND/year to the local budget, and at the same time create more jobs for about 400 workers.

The project is established in accordance with plans such as: Planning for exploration, exploitation, processing and use of minerals in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; Planning of Dak Nong province in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Dak Nong province has now agreed on the investment policy for the bauxite ore processing plant complex project in Mine Cluster 1 (existing Nhan Co Alumina Complex). The locality requested TKV to implement procedures, records, and processes to invest in increasing the capacity of Nhan Co Alumina Complex from 0.65 million tons of alumina/year to 2 million tons of alumina/year.
