In discussions with G7 leaders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that his plan to end the conflict in Ukraine is "a clear manifestation of rationality." This plan is the "Peace Formula" for which he is seeking support.
On his personal page, Zelensky wrote: “We always act pragmatically to defend our values. And the Ukrainian Peace Formula is a clear expression of this rationality. I thank you for your support of the Peace Formula.”
Over the past few months, President Zelensky has urged Western allies and other nations to take further economic and military measures to support Kyiv as the conflict with Russia continues for the past 15 months.
In another development on the same day, Sergii Nykyforov, spokesman for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said the Ukrainian leader did not confirm that Russian forces had captured the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine.
On Facebook, Nykyforov explained that the reporter's question about Russia claiming they had captured Bakhmut and President Zelensky's response, "I think not," meant that Zelensky denied (Russia) had captured Bakhmut.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said that Ukrainian forces had surrounded part of the eastern city of Bakhmut along both flanks and maintained control of an area within the city.
Maliar made this statement on the Telegram messaging app shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the battle there had ended with a Russian victory.
