Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has appointed Mr. Nguyen Minh, the former Principal of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School (before its reorganization), as the new Principal of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School.

At the same time, the department also appointed Ms. Tran Thi Hong Thuy, Deputy Principal of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School (before its reorganization), as Principal of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School.

Mr. Nguyen Minh was born in 1979 and holds a PhD. Before becoming the Principal of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School in 2018, he worked at the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.

Ms. Tran Thi Hong Thuy, born in 1977, holds a Master's degree in English Language Teaching. She was previously an English teacher at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted before being appointed as the school's Vice Principal in 2016.

Speaking at the decision-awarding ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, stated that the reorganization of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School into two schools, Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School and Tran Dai Nghia Junior and Senior High School, aims to comply with the 2019 Education Law and the regulations for specialized schools. The reason for separating the two schools while retaining the name Tran Dai Nghia is that, despite the reorganization, the students and teachers remain those of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School. Retaining the name Tran Dai Nghia aims to preserve the traditions and sentiments of the teachers, students, and parents of the school across generations.

“When reorganizing, the Department of Education and Training carefully considered how to avoid causing disruption and difficulties for parents and students. Therefore, the reorganization plan includes timeframes for a transitional period. Specifically, the junior high school level has 3 years and the high school level has 2 years before being completely separated. After 3 years of complete separation, the two schools will complement each other in terms of youth and capacity… Although Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School will be separated into two schools, students and teachers will continue to teach and learn at 53 Nguyen Du Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1 (the former address of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School) until the end of the 2023-2024 school year,” Mr. Hieu shared.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School inherits the best qualities of a specialized school, and the department is guiding the school's development towards international integration, as the school is currently doing.

According to Mr. Hieu, having students from two schools in one educational institution will certainly present difficulties, therefore he hopes that the principals of the two schools will closely coordinate with the vice principals to organize teaching and learning in a way that minimizes disruption and change.

He expressed confidence that the principals of the two schools would cooperate effectively to fulfill the wishes of teachers, students, and parents.

“Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School inherits the best practices of specialized schools, and the Department of Education and Training is guiding the school's development towards international integration, as the school is currently doing. With Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School being relocated to An Khanh Ward, Thu Duc City, although it's far, the location is beautiful and the area is over 2.2 hectares. In the future, the Department will continue to invest in the school. I propose that the Secondary Education Department and the Planning and Finance Department study the regulations for specialized schools, supplement equipment, and calculate the financial aspects so that Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School can successfully fulfill its mission in the next academic year…” – said a leader of the Department of Education and Training.

She stated that she will always strive her best, fostering unity between the two schools to continue managing the school, developing strengths in student training, and aiming for advanced education that approaches international standards…
