Ho Chi Minh City enrolls first and sixth graders earlier than previous years

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, enrollment for the first grades (from kindergarten to high school) for the 2025-2026 school year will be completed in June 2025, two months earlier than August as usual.

Specifically, the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that the enrollment of the first classes of kindergarten, grade 1, grade 6, grade 10, and high school graduation will be completed by Ho Chi Minh City in June 2025. In particular, the grade 10 entrance exam will take place on June 6-7, and the high school graduation exam in 2025 will take place on June 26-27. Compared to previous years, the enrollment completion time in 2025 is 2 months earlier.

It is known that the above adjustment of time is to ensure that the enrollment work at the primary level is on schedule and appropriate in the context that the whole country is implementing the arrangement and merger of provinces and cities, and completing the district-level tasks according to Conclusion 127-KL/TW dated February 28, 2025 of the Politburo and the Secretariat on implementing research and proposing to continue to arrange the organization of the political system.

After the Ho Chi Minh City government finishes its district-level tasks, meaning the district-level enrollment steering committee finishes its role, the Department of Education and Training will issue a document directing the establishment of a grassroots enrollment steering committee to continue enrollment work.

According to the Department of Education and Training, for the 2025-2026 school year, Ho Chi Minh City's primary school enrollment will be conducted online at https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn, through the student's identification code and "actual residence" according to VNeID.

The Department of Education and Training requires that 100% of students of admission age at all levels are declared (including general education subjects) with full information at https://csdl.hcm.edu.vn. Localities quickly complete the declaration and review of study information according to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training. Information used in primary school admissions must be 100% extracted from the education sector database system.

Thu Duc City People's Committee and districts shall base on the actual school situation in the locality to build flexible enrollment areas, not following the administrative boundaries of wards, to create conditions for students to study near their current residence, and ensure that schools enroll enough students according to the education development plan.

At the same time, the Department of Education and Training emphasized that it will combine the use of the city's shared GIS digital map system to calculate students' travel distances, and may not allocate students according to ward administrative boundaries, in order to create conditions for students to study near their current residence and in accordance with the local situation.
