Ho Chi Minh City exempts tuition fees for all students from the next school year

(Dan Tri) - From the 2025-2026 school year, all students in Ho Chi Minh City will not have to pay tuition fees, even non-public students will receive equivalent support.


The Ho Chi Minh City People's Council has just officially approved the proposal of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to issue a resolution on special policies to support tuition fees for preschool children under 5 years old and public and non-public high school students from the 2025-2026 school year.

With this policy, preschool children under 5 years old and public high school students will not have to pay tuition fees.

Students at non-public schools (except schools with foreign investment) will receive support equal to the tuition fees of public schools.

The funding source for implementation is from the city budget according to the current budget decentralization. The estimated budget for implementing the policy is 653 billion VND. Of which, the budget for implementing tuition support for preschool children and public high school students is 423 billion VND; the budget for implementing tuition support for preschool children and non-public high school students is 230 billion VND.

Applicable time, from school year 2025-2026.

Thus, from the next school year, almost all students in Ho Chi Minh City will not have to pay tuition fees when going to school.

Tuition support levels for each level and group are as follows:

Group 1 is students studying at schools in Thu Duc City and districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan.

Group 2 is students studying at schools in Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio districts.

According to Decree 81 of the Government , from the 2025-2026 school year, public primary school students, 5-year-old preschool children and secondary school students will be exempt from tuition fees.

Ho Chi Minh City also issued a resolution on tuition support policy for preschool children under 5 years old and high school students. From the 2025-2026 school year, all preschool children, students from primary to secondary school, high school and continuing education systems of all levels in Ho Chi Minh City will not have to pay tuition fees.
