Previously, on the afternoon of October 16, Truong Son Commune Police ( Quang Tri ) received information from Mr. Le Cong Thanh (Khe Ngang village, Truong Son commune) about a red-faced monkey (Macaca arctoides) entering his garden to chase poultry and was captured by Mr. Thanh.
Upon receiving the information, the Commune Police coordinated with the Truong Son Forest Protection Department to approach and identify the monkey as a red-faced monkey - an endangered and rare species belonging to group IIB, weighing about 30 kg. Afterwards, the Truong Son Commune Police and the Quang Ninh Protective Forest Management Board completed the procedures to rescue and return this individual to its natural habitat according to regulations.
In Quang Tri, recently, many local people have voluntarily handed over to the authorities endangered and rare animals for care and release into the natural environment. Most recently, on October 12, Mr. Ho Vali (residing in Ha Lec village, Kim Ngan commune, Quang Tri province) also handed over to the authorities 2 rare egrets that had flown into his house.
The reception, rescue and release of endangered and rare animals into the natural environment demonstrates the sense of responsibility and awareness of nature protection of the people as well as the authorities of Quang Tri province. This activity contributes to maintaining ecological balance, conserving precious genetic resources of wild species and spreading a profound humanistic message about love of nature and joining hands to protect biodiversity.
