Earlier on the afternoon of October 16th, the Truong Son Commune Police ( Quang Tri Province ) received information from Mr. Le Cong Thanh (Khe Ngang village, Truong Son commune) about a red-faced monkey (Macaca arctoides) entering his garden, chasing his poultry, and subsequently capturing it.
Upon receiving the information, the commune police, in coordination with the Truong Son Forest Ranger Station, approached and identified the individual as a red-faced monkey – an endangered and rare species belonging to Group IIB, weighing approximately 30 kg. Subsequently, the Truong Son commune police and the Quang Ninh Protective Forest Management Board completed the necessary procedures to rescue and return the individual to its natural habitat as per regulations.
In Quang Tri province, many local residents have recently voluntarily handed over endangered and rare animals to authorities for care and release back into their natural environment. Most recently, on October 12th, Mr. Ho Va Li (residing in Ha Lec village, Kim Ngan commune, Quang Tri province) also handed over two rare herons that had strayed into his house to the authorities.
The rescue, recovery, and release of endangered and rare animals back into their natural environment demonstrate the sense of responsibility and environmental protection awareness of the people and authorities of Quang Tri province. This activity contributes to maintaining ecological balance, preserving valuable genetic resources of wild species, and spreading a profound humanitarian message about love for nature and the collective effort to protect biodiversity.
