This year, the Institute of Agricultural Biology and Technology (Vietnam Academy of Agriculture) continues to implement the model of "Developing potato production and growing potatoes for processing along the value chain" on sandy loam soil in Quang Tri province.

Accordingly, 15 hectares of sandy loam land in Nam Trach commune were selected for the model. According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Director of the Institute of Biology and Agricultural Technology, the model applies organic farming technology to increase productivity and improve soil.

Last year, the Institute implemented a model on 1.5 hectares of potato fields in Nam Trach commune. After 3 months of cultivation, the potato yield reached over 21 tons/ha at harvest. Farmers participating in the model earned a profit of 70-80 million VND/ha.
