Dak Lak completes 101 tasks related to combating IUU fishing.

Dak Lak province has installed and is monitoring 100% of its operating fishing vessels, completing all 101 tasks assigned by the Government related to combating IUU fishing.

The Dak Lak Department of Agriculture and Environment (NN-MT) recently held its December regular meeting to evaluate assigned tasks for the year and the progress of implementing professional work.

Control 100% of fishing vessels in operation.

Regarding the fight against IUU (illegal, unreported, and unregulated) fishing, Dak Lak province has achieved positive results. Mr. Dao Quang Minh, Head of the Fisheries and Marine Affairs Sub-Department, stated that the unit has advised the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Provincial People's Committee to install and monitor 100% of operating fishing vessels, completing all 101 tasks assigned by the Government related to combating IUU fishing.

Regarding this matter, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested the Fisheries and Marine Affairs Sub-Department to regularly monitor and strictly control fishing vessels entering and leaving ports, and to handle fishing vessels that intentionally violate regulations. At the same time, the assessment of damage in the fisheries sector caused by Typhoon No. 13 and the recent historic floods must be more thorough and accurate so that the Department's leaders can have a more comprehensive view and report the data to the Provincial People's Committee as accurately as possible.

Regarding land management, Mr. Mai Van Phuc, Head of the Land Management Sub-Department, stated that concerning the content of advising the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council a Resolution stipulating the land price list in Dak Lak province, the Sub-Department has worked with the consulting unit and relevant parties and has basically completed the task. They will advise on the necessary procedures for the Provincial People's Committee to submit the Resolution to the Provincial People's Council in a timely manner and within the prescribed timeframe for approval.

In the field of agricultural extension, Mr. Dinh Van Dang, Director of the Dak Lak Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, requested the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment to pay attention to and soon approve the Agricultural Extension Plan for the period 2026-2030 with an estimated budget of approximately 130 billion VND. At the same time, he requested the Department's leaders to approve the plan for handling the Center's assets in the eastern part of the province (the assets of the former Phu Yen Seed Center) to reduce security and management costs, contributing to the province's allocation of surplus assets to ensure their functionality and avoid waste.

Providing assistance to people affected by storms and floods.

Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, Head of the Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine, said that the Department has promptly deployed disinfectants and called on businesses to support environmental treatment to prevent the spread of disease after the floods. The Department has advised the Department of Agriculture and Environment to propose the allocation of 10,000 liters of disinfectant and breeding stock.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province, the locality suffered the most severe damage among the provinces in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, with preliminary estimated total losses of approximately 7,120 billion VND.

Regarding the issue of supporting people in overcoming the recent historic floods, Ms. Dang Thi Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province, commended the departments and units for promptly forming teams to go to the East to support the people; the units actively mobilized and called for contributions from organizations and individuals in cash and essential goods, medicine, and clothing.

The total value of essential supplies mobilized by the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment during the recent relief effort was approximately over 5 billion VND. Accordingly, the Department's working group visited and provided assistance to people in the affected areas in localities such as Krong Bong commune, Yang Mao commune, etc.
