Today, in the exciting atmosphere of preparing to welcome the traditional New Year of the nation, Nghe An province solemnly organized the program "Tet for the poor - Spring of Giap Thin 2024".
On behalf of the leaders of Nghe An province, I would like to send my best regards and best wishes to Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, delegates, distinguished guests, businesses, philanthropists and all the people.
Dear delegates , dear people!
In 2023, with a journey full of difficulties and challenges, thanks to the solidarity, unity, high determination, and efforts of the entire political system; the consensus and unanimity of the business community and people, we have overcome difficulties and challenges to focus on socio-economic development and achieved remarkable results.
The total product growth rate is estimated at 7.14%; State budget revenue reached 21,279 billion VND, equal to 134.2% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council, the second year exceeding the 20 trillion VND mark; investment attraction achieved very positive results, especially attracting foreign investment capital, ranking 8th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, with a total newly registered and adjusted capital reaching more than 1.6 billion USD.
The province has completed many major tasks, creating a very important premise for the province's development in 2024 and the following years; especially focusing on directing the summary of Resolution No. 26, and the Politburo issued Resolution No. 39 on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045; the Prime Minister approved the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
Social security work is of interest to the Party Committee and government; and is actively contributed to and supported by agencies, units, businesses, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and the people.
In particular, through the Program to mobilize and support the construction and repair of houses for the poor and people with difficult housing circumstances, in 2023 alone, it supported the construction and repair of 7,517 houses for the poor, with a total mobilized resource of over 523 billion VND.

Taking care of Tet for poor households, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances is a task that the entire political system of Nghe An province, organizations, individuals, and businesses regularly pay attention to and carry out.
After 11 years of implementing the Tet for the Poor Program, Nghe An province has raised more than 726 billion VND to take care of Tet for hundreds of thousands of poor households.
For the Lunar New Year 2023 alone, the whole province mobilized more than 137 billion VND, giving gifts to more than 188 thousand poor households, near-poor households, policy families, and social protection beneficiaries, with an average value of each gift of at least 500 thousand VND.
This is a meaningful activity, contributing to sharing some of the difficulties, adding motivation for poor households and households in difficult circumstances to have a warm, full and happy Tet; and is the most vivid proof affirming the tradition and good morality of "loving others as you love yourself" full of humanity of Nghe An people.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, I would like to express my gratitude, acknowledgement and deep thanks to the kindness and noble gestures of domestic and foreign agencies, organizations, units and individuals, especially businesses and entrepreneurs who, despite very difficult conditions, have actively responded and practically supported the poor and poor households through the Fund for the Poor at all levels and social security programs.

Despite many efforts and attempts by the Party Committee, the government, the active attention of units, businesses, philanthropists and the people, there are still a number of people in remote areas, those affected by natural disasters, epidemics, serious illnesses, the disadvantaged... whose lives are still very difficult.
The whole province still has more than 45 thousand poor households, accounting for nearly 5.2%; over 50 thousand near-poor households, accounting for 5.7%, in dire need of support from the whole society.
Responding to the Appeal Letter of the Provincial Party Secretary, in recent days, agencies, businesses and philanthropists have shown the spirit of "mutual love and support" by enthusiastically participating in contributing and supporting the poor to celebrate Tet. I am very pleased to announce that so far the program "Tet for the poor - Spring of Giap Thin 2024" has raised more than 140 billion VND.
In the difficult conditions of 2023, the contributions of organizations and individuals are even more meaningful, demonstrating a noble gesture and full of precious love for the poor every time Tet comes and Spring comes. I would like to ask you to give a big round of applause for those with golden hearts for the community.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, I call on the Party committees, authorities at all levels, organizations, individuals inside and outside the province, and television viewers to continue to care for the poor during Tet to ensure practical significance in the spirit of "all people enjoying Tet, welcoming Spring and joining hands for the poor, leaving no one behind".
With your contributions, Nghe An province will direct agencies, units, and localities to allocate and deliver them to the poor and poor households, ensuring fairness and timeliness.
At the same time, I also hope that the poor and those in difficult circumstances need to further promote their will to be self-reliant, self-reliant, take care of their labor, join hands to take care of the poor in the same situation according to the principle of "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves, the less torn leaves cover the more torn leaves" and the aspiration to rise up and escape poverty sustainably.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Party Committee, the Government and the People of Nghe An province, I would like to sincerely thank Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly for visiting and presenting Tet gifts to the poor in Nghi Loc and Yen Thanh districts and taking the time to attend the program "Tet for the poor" of the province. In the future, Nghe An province hopes to continue to receive more attention from Comrade.
Finally, I wish that the program "Tet for the poor - Spring of Giap Thin 2024" of our province will continue to spread and receive many golden hearts from the community and society.
