On the afternoon of March 4, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) - China's highest political advisory body - opened its 14th session.

Xinhua reported that General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People 's Congress Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning and many other senior leaders of the Chinese Party and State attended the meeting.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the CPPCC Wang Huning reviewed the outstanding achievements in the political consultation work in 2023 in all aspects, and highly appreciated the contributions of the CPPCC to the cause of the Communist Party and the country of China over the past year.
At the session scheduled to end on March 10, CPPCC delegates will hear the Work Report of the CPPCC Standing Committee and several other reports.
The CPPCC will hold special consultative committee meetings and special consultative conferences and forums, focusing on issues including maintaining high-quality population development to support China's modernization development.
Delegates of the CPPCC will also attend the second session of the 14th National People's Congress, which opened on the morning of March 5, as non-voting participants, listening to and discussing a number of reports, including the Work Report of the Chinese government .
Once a year, more than 2,000 CPPCC delegates representing parties, unions, social organizations, and ethnic minorities in China gather in Beijing to contribute their opinions to an important event of the world's second largest economy.
The members of the 14th CPPCC come from 34 groups, all of which are among China's 56 ethnic groups. The delegates are broadly representative, with a composition that includes prominent individuals from all walks of Chinese society.
