This event took place just two days after a face-to-face meeting between leaders of Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and China's General Administration of Customs in Beijing, marking a new step forward in agricultural trade cooperation between the two countries.

This is the first shipment of frozen durian from Vietnam officially exported to China under the bilateral protocol signed on August 19, 2024.
According to Chinese media, a shipment of 22.24 tons of frozen durian from Vietnam was exported to China through the Beilun II Bridge border gate in Dongxing, Guangxi, starting on May 30th.
At the border, this shipment underwent rigorous inspection. The durian products were peeled and then rapidly cooled to -18 degrees Celsius using liquid nitrogen. This method can effectively extend the shelf life of the fruit and is particularly suitable for long-distance transport and long-term storage.
Mr. Chen Jiqing, in charge of Yixin Dongxing Customs Clearance Co., Ltd. in Guangxi, said: “This truck of frozen durian originated from Lam Dong province, arrived at Mong Cai border gate in Vietnam, and then underwent customs clearance procedures at Dongxing border gate. After inspection, it will be transported to food processing companies in the country.”
He added that frozen durian has a long shelf life, is easy to eat, and can be used in food processing, making it very popular with Chinese consumers and food processing companies.

China's import of frozen durian has created new opportunities for agricultural trade between Vietnam and China, enriching the range of imported agricultural products at border crossings.
To better serve businesses, Dongxing Customs has assigned dedicated personnel to support and guide them.
Yang Jing, Head of the General Business Department of Dongxing Customs, said: “We have implemented policy dissemination and declaration guidance for businesses, conducted simulated customs clearance drills, optimized the supervision process, and achieved high customs clearance efficiency while ensuring safety.”
Earlier, during his visit to China on May 28th, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy held talks with the Director General of the General Administration of Customs of China, Sun Maijun, to discuss and coordinate efforts to resolve difficulties in exporting Vietnamese agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products to China, especially durian.
Both sides agreed to promote cooperation in agricultural trade and market opening in the coming period through the establishment of new mechanisms. Accordingly, China will establish a "green channel" mechanism for agricultural products, prioritizing quick customs clearance at border gates for fresh fruit from Vietnam during peak harvest seasons, especially for lychees and durians.
