This event took place just two days after the direct talks between leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the General Administration of Customs of China in Beijing, marking a new step forward in agricultural trade cooperation between the two countries.

This is the first shipment of frozen durian from Vietnam officially exported to China under the bilateral protocol signed on August 19, 2024.
Chinese media reported that a shipment of 22.24 tons of frozen durian from Vietnam was exported to China through the Beilun II Bridge in Dongxing, Guangxi on May 30.
At the border, the shipment was strictly inspected. The durian products were de-shelled and then rapidly frozen to minus 18 degrees Celsius with liquid nitrogen. This method can effectively extend the shelf life of the fruit and is especially suitable for long-distance transportation and long-term storage.
Mr. Chen Jiqing, in charge of Guangxi Yixin Dongxing Customs Declaration Co., Ltd., said: “This frozen durian truck departed from Lam Dong province, arrived at Mong Cai border gate, Vietnam, then completed customs clearance procedures at Dongxing border gate. After inspection, it will be transferred to domestic food processing companies.”
He added that frozen durian has a long shelf life, is easy to eat and can be used in food processing, making it very popular with Chinese consumers and food processing companies.

China's import of frozen durian has brought new opportunities for agricultural trade between Vietnam and China, enriching the types of imported agricultural products at the border gate.
To better serve businesses, Dong Hung Customs has assigned specialized personnel to support and guide businesses.
“We have carried out policy propaganda and declaration guidance for enterprises, conducted simulated customs clearance drills, optimized the supervision process, and achieved high customs clearance efficiency while ensuring safety,” said Mr. Yang Jing, Head of the General Business Department of Dongxing Customs.
Previously, within the framework of his visit and work in China, on May 28, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy held talks with Director General of the General Administration of Customs of China Ton Mai Quan to discuss and coordinate to remove difficulties in exporting agricultural, forestry and fishery products from Vietnam to China, especially durian.
The two sides agreed to promote cooperation in the field of agricultural trade and market opening in the coming time through the establishment of new mechanisms. Accordingly, the Chinese side will establish a “green agricultural channel” mechanism, giving priority to fast customs clearance at border gates for fresh fruits from Vietnam during the peak harvest season, especially for lychees and durians.
