The inspection results of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City pointed out many existing problems of Ly Tu Trong College in Ho Chi Minh City. Especially the problems related to enrollment and tuition collection.
Speaking to reporters of the Vietnam Women's Newspaper, Dr. Dinh Van De, Acting Principal of Ly Tu Trong College in Ho Chi Minh City, said that according to the conclusion of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training from the 2020-2021 school year to the 2024-2025 school year, the school has temporarily collected tuition fees from 15,943 students, with a total amount of 158 billion VND.
The school has refunded 13,921 students, with a total amount of 137 billion VND. 2,022 students have not been refunded, with a total amount of more than 20 billion VND.
Explaining the figure of 158 billion VND, Dr. Dinh Van De said that this was the figure before March 2025.
Regarding the amount of more than 20 billion VND that has not been refunded to 2,022 students, the school leaders said that this is the tuition exemption (MGHP) for the College level (70% reduction for hazardous occupations) of 19.2 billion VND. The reason for not paying to students is because the 2024-2025 school year has not ended, this amount is still in the Treasury.
For the T4 intermediate level (junior high school graduates going on to intermediate level), the remaining MGHP amount is 1.18 billion VND/328 students. The reason is that students have not provided or provided incorrect bank account numbers.
Regarding the content of the subjects of college transfer admission mentioned by the Department of Education and Training, the leader of Ly Tu Trong school said that people with a secondary school diploma in the same field or profession and a high school diploma or a certificate of completion of the general education program, or a certificate of sufficient high school cultural knowledge, or have studied and passed the required high school cultural knowledge according to regulations.
In addition, based on the legitimate wishes of parents and students who want to continue studying to improve their qualifications without affecting the time and progress of training, the School has created conditions for students studying at the intermediate level at the school to participate in auditing higher level classes to supplement their knowledge and avoid interruption of the learning process.
After students complete the intermediate program, if they meet the requirements according to current regulations, the School will consider and issue a Decision on admission to the College program for these cases.
