On March 22, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy organized the 12th Youth Science and Technology Conference in 2024 and summarized the school's scientific research activities from 2022-2024.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Van, Head of the Department of External Relations - Science and Technology, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that the school has implemented 542 topics at all levels in the period from 2022-2024. Of which, there are 15 topics at the provincial/ministerial level, 209 topics for staff. There are 32 school and unit-level innovation initiatives recognized. In particular, scientific research activities among students have made significant progress with 318 topics.
The leaders of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy pay special attention and create maximum conditions for scientific research activities among students.
In addition, the school has published 833 scientific articles in domestic and international specialized journals, including 233 scientific articles in international journals and 600 scientific articles in domestic specialized journals.
Another highlight is that through scientific research activities, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital has transferred many new treatment techniques to medical units, regarding: tumor treatment with high-intensity focused ultrasound - HIFU, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy and gastric perforation suturing, epidural anesthesia for pain relief; emergency - cardiovascular resuscitation for stroke, laparoscopic obstetrics and gynecology surgery...
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Lam, Vice Rector of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that scientific research is one of the missions of the school with a clear development strategy. The school is willing to provide funding to support students participating in scientific research and has a special mechanism for works published in international specialized journals.
The 12th Youth Science and Technology Conference of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2024 has 232 reports from students and young staff.
According to Mr. Lam, among hundreds of basic-level (school-level) research topics every year, many research results of students and young staff have been applied to real life, serving teaching, medical examination and treatment and planning health strategies for the community. The 12th Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Youth Science and Technology Conference in 2024 continued to receive 232 reports (including 129 topics of students and 103 topics of young staff - PV). Good reports and research results will be given the opportunity to participate in domestic and international scientific research conferences. In the immediate future, that is the 2024 National Youth Science and Technology Conference, scheduled to take place in December, hosted by Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
