Cheating to "make a difference" of thousands of taels of gold
On the evening of October 31, the Investigation Police Agency - Ho Chi Minh City Police Department issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and temporarily detain actress Truong Ngoc Anh to investigate the act of "Abuse of trust to appropriate property".
The beauty born in 1976 – once a symbol of Vietnamese cinema and television in the late 1990s and early 2000s – was accused of being involved in wrongdoings in the management of Dat Rong Real Estate Company Limited, where she held the position of Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of the Company.
According to information provided by the investigation agency, Dat Rong Real Estate Company Limited (address 25 Dao Duy Anh, Duc Nhuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) filed a complaint against Truong Ngoc Anh for signs of appropriating the company's assets.
Dat Rong Real Estate Company Limited was established in 2007 with Truong Ngoc Anh as Director and legal representative. During its operation, Anh called on Mr. PGM (Irish nationality) to contribute a total investment capital of 9.1 million USD (equivalent to more than 149 billion VND) to implement 2 real estate projects, including the Indochine building project at 112 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, District 3 (old). For this project alone, Mr. M. transferred 4.49 million USD, equivalent to 72 billion VND.
According to the investment contract signed on January 25, 2008, the Indochine building project was to be owned by Dat Rong Real Estate Limited Company with a value of 12,917.7 taels of gold. However, the verification results showed that before the time of signing the investment contract, Truong Ngoc Anh and NMH (born in 1964, residing in Tan Dinh ward, Ho Chi Minh city) had signed a sales contract with 4 households in the project land with only 7,917.3 taels of gold in their personal names. Of which, Anh had only paid 3,000 taels of gold but the company's accounting books had paid 4,458 taels of gold; violating the investment agreement, showing signs of fraud, inflating the project value to appropriate the difference.

Notably, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee reclaimed the above land to expand Le Quy Don High School and paid more than 26.1 billion VND in compensation to the households. The households then returned the entire amount to Truong Ngoc Anh and NMH, but Anh only transferred 3 billion VND to the company and partners, the rest was allegedly used for personal purposes, without accounting.
The investigation agency said that Anh also directed the creation of fake accounting entries, withdrew money from the company's account, and falsified financial reports. The case is currently being expanded to clarify the acts and recover assets for the victim company.
The glory of the past
Born in 1976 in Hanoi , Truong Ngoc Anh has been a prominent name in the Vietnamese film and television industry for decades. Entering showbiz in the 1990s, she quickly gained attention for her modern beauty.
She made a strong impression through a series of "hit" TV series: Farewell to the Past, Blood Money, Royal Candle ... Then, Ao Lua Ha Dong (2006) brought Truong Ngoc Anh's name to the spotlight, reaching international level. The film won many awards at Busan International Film Festival, Fukuoka International Film Festival, Kim Ke - Bach Hoa International Film Festival... The role of the austere, inner-minded Ms. Dan also helped Truong Ngoc Anh win many major awards and be considered a big screen icon.
But not stopping at acting, in 2014, Truong Ngoc Anh switched to becoming a film producer with a series of projects: Huong Ga, Sac dep ngan can ...

In recent years, actress - producer Truong Ngoc Anh has also "invaded" the field of organizing beauty contests. Specifically, in 2022, Truong Ngoc Anh became President of Nova Entertainment - the company that once held the copyright of the Miss Earth and Miss Ethnic Vietnam contests. At the event announcing her new role, the actress said that the strategic direction and leadership of Nova Entertainment would attract and develop cultural values, starting with cooperation plans with domestic and international partners. In addition to beauty pageants, Nova Entertainment at that time had the ambition to carry out film projects in cooperation with the US, Korea... as well as international festivals and events.
Looking back at Truong Ngoc Anh's journey, it is undeniable that she has always had many ambitions, but perhaps that is what makes her not only stop at the art field with the role of an actress. "The businesswoman's shirt" is too big for an actress like her. Being continuously entangled in debt and lawsuits shows that the line between "success" and "risk beyond control" has become more fragile than ever. From another perspective, it can be said that success and fame are both a medal and an "invisible string" that binds Truong Ngoc Anh. And in fact, every medal has two sides...

The news that Truong Ngoc Anh was prosecuted and temporarily detained shocked the public – not only because she is a famous actress, but also because it was an unfortunate slip of an icon! Many people expressed regret for her once brilliant film career, but also considered this a valuable lesson.
The case of Truong Ngoc Anh, as well as that of Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, Vo Thi Ngoc Ngan (Ngan 98)... before, is once again a warning that: The halo of showbiz cannot overshadow the legal balance. Fame or beauty cannot be a "talisman" before the law. When stepping out of the spotlight, artists still have to live and work like any other citizen: obey the law, be financially transparent, be honest in cooperation and moreover, have to shoulder the social responsibility of a famous person!
