Exciting cultural activities at Thanh Tuyen Festival 2024

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Hoang Viet Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province, said: "Tuyen Quang is a mountainous province, located between the East and Northwest of the country, about 2.5 hours from Hanoi , a land rich in cultural, historical, and revolutionary traditions; a place where the cultural nuances of the ethnic groups in the northern mountainous region originated, converged, and intertwined."

Tuyen Quang is blessed with many unique and attractive natural landscapes and abundant, diverse, and pristine natural resources, allowing for the development of various types of tourism such as: historical and cultural tourism, ecotourism, resort tourism, community tourism, spiritual tourism, and festival tourism... Among them, the Thanh Tuyen Festival stands out – a unique and distinctive cultural product held annually during the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Thanh Tuyen Festival has become a prominent cultural event and an attractive destination, drawing the attention of a large number of people, domestic and international tourists.

According to Mr. Hoang Viet Phuong, in 2024, Tuyen Quang province will organize the Thanh Tuyen Festival lasting more than 30 days (from August 10th to September 15th, 2024), with many unique and attractive cultural, sports, and tourism activities, meticulously prepared. Highlights include: the Festival of Performances of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and the Thanh Tuyen Festival 2024, themed "The Quintessence of Convergence and Radiance," taking place at 8 PM on September 13th, 2024, at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, Tuyen Quang City, on an international scale.

The program features the participation and performance of 6 Vietnamese heritage sites and 2 foreign heritage sites that have been inscribed by UNESCO on the list of representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity; the Tuyen Quang City Festival Night program, with the theme "Shining Colors of the Tuyen Quang City Festival Night," is a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival for children and teenagers organized on a national scale, broadcast live on VTV1, Vietnam Television at 8:10 PM on September 14, 2024, with over 100 giant and mini Mid-Autumn lantern models participating in the parade," the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province added.

The Tuyen Quang City Festival Night program, themed "The Dazzling Colors of the Tuyen Quang City Festival Night" in 2024, marks the 20th year that the people of Tuyen Quang have maintained and developed the Tuyen Quang City Festival. This is a unique, spectacular, and grand Mid-Autumn Festival, the largest in the country, featuring hundreds of giant, dazzling, and colorful lantern models creatively depicting figures and characters from fairy tales, legends, or the revolutionary history of the nation. These lanterns are paraded through the streets of Tuyen Quang City in the evenings, continuously from mid-July to the end of the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.

The Thanh Tuyen Festival has been awarded Guinness Vietnam records three times by the National Records Council: "The Mid-Autumn Festival with the most large lantern models in Vietnam"; "The largest Mid-Autumn Festival feast in Vietnam"; and "The largest pair of rotating lanterns in Vietnam".

Since 2023, the program has been officially organized on a national scale and serves as a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration for children nationwide. This is the second year that Tuyen Quang province has implemented the Project to innovate the organization of the Thanh Tuyen Festival for the period 2023-2025, with the main goal of building and developing the Festival into a national and internationally-oriented tourism product.

According to the Organizing Committee, the program for the Festival of Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, with the theme "The Quintessence of Convergence and Radiance," and the Opening Ceremony of the Thanh Tuyen Festival 2024 will take place at 8:10 PM on September 14, 2024, at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, Tuyen Quang City.

In addition, many unique and attractive cultural, sports, and tourism activities will be organized to serve the people and tourists participating in and experiencing the Tuyen Quang Festival, such as: the Cultural and Sports Festival of Ethnic Groups of Tuyen Quang Province, from August 23rd to August 25th, 2024, at the Cao Lan Ethnic Culture Village, Dong Son Hamlet, Chan Son Commune, Yen Son District;

Exchange and performance of intangible cultural heritage representing humanity, from 8:00 AM on September 14, 2024, at Tan Trao University, the Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School, and Tan Trao High School; the "Cinema with Tuyen Quang" program from September 13 to 14, 2024, in the center of Tuyen Quang City; the Tuyen Quang Provincial Trade and Tourism Fair 2024, from September 9 to 15, 2024, in the center of Tuyen Quang City; the "Exhibition and Introduction of the Quintessence of Vietnamese Cuisine" program and the Hanoi Beer Festival 2024, from September 13 to 15, 2024, in the center of Tuyen Quang City; the Tuyen Quang Provincial Open Table Tennis Club Tournament - competing for the Thanh Tuyen Festival Cup, from August 31 to September 2, 2024; The Tan Trao Open Tennis Cup will be held from September 6th to 8th, 2024, and the Tuyen Quang Marathon and the 3rd Off-Road Vehicle Show will take place in September 2024 in the center of Tuyen Quang City; along with many other supporting activities from districts and cities throughout the province.
