Gia Lai Youth Determined to Achieve 11 Targets | Gia Lai Electronic Newspaper

(GLO) - On the morning of May 31st, at Nguyen Trai Secondary School (Ia Dom commune, Duc Co district, Gia Lai province), the Provincial Youth Union organized the launching ceremony of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign and responded to the Month of Action for Children in 2023.

Attending the ceremony were representatives from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, the Department of Education and Training; the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union; the District Party Committee, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duc Co district; representatives from the Youth Union of the Provincial Agencies and Enterprises Bloc, the Provincial Police Youth Union, the Provincial Border Guard Youth Union; the Party Committee and People's Committee of Ia Dom commune; the Duc Co District Youth Union and more than 700 youth union members and young people from Duc Co district.

This year's Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign runs from May 31st to August 31st, 2023. Accordingly, the youth of Gia Lai are determined to achieve 11 targets, including: Mobilizing at least 60,000 young people to participate in volunteer activities organized by the Youth Union and Youth Association; establishing at least 2 new youth-managed roads in urban areas; building at least 5 new charitable houses, houses of compassion, and Red Scarf houses; planting at least 170,000 new trees; repairing at least 20 km and building at least 5 km of new rural roads.

Mobilize youth union members to propose 400 ideas and initiatives. Support the enhancement of digital skills for at least 3,000 young people and citizens. Support at least 2 innovative youth startup projects. Provide career and job counseling for at least 3,000 youth union members and young people; refer at least 300 young people to jobs. Organize activities for 500 young people to improve their foreign language skills and international integration. Provide support for at least 2,000 disadvantaged children.

To promote the pioneering and voluntary role of youth in participating in socio-economic development and building new rural areas, at the launching ceremony, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union established 5 volunteer youth teams, including: the "Pink Holiday" volunteer youth team; the "Red Phoenix Flower" volunteer youth team; the "Exam Season Counseling and Support" volunteer youth team; the "Green March" volunteer youth team; and the "Green Summer" volunteer youth team.

At the launching ceremony, the Provincial Youth Union of Agencies and Enterprises presented a symbolic plaque for a "Red Scarf" house to Rơ Châm H'Nin (8B class, Nguyễn Trãi Secondary School); and awarded 20 scholarships (500,000 VND each) to disadvantaged children in Ia Dom commune. The Provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Children's Rights also presented 30 gifts (200,000 VND each) to disadvantaged students.

The Youth Union of the Provincial Border Guard Command presented 12 gifts to disadvantaged children participating in the "Helping Children Go to School" and "Children Adopted by Border Guard Posts" programs. Yadea electric vehicles donated 10 scholarships (500,000 VND each) and 20 gifts to students of Nguyen Trai Secondary School.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, the youth volunteer teams simultaneously carried out various activities: training on accident and drowning prevention for children at Nguyen Trai Secondary School; promoting "Gia Lai Youth for the Border of the Fatherland" in Ia Pnon commune; planting 500 trees in Ia Dom commune; and commencing the construction of a "Red Scarf" house for disadvantaged children in Ia Dom commune…
