Additional recruitment for grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City: 37 public schools consider the standard score of the first choice

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just announced additional enrollment for grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year at high schools in Region 1 (Ho Chi Minh City before the merger) that have not yet met their enrollment quota for the 2025-2026 school year. In particular, the conditions for additional enrollment scores have changed compared to previous years.

Changes in additional admission conditions for grade 10

Students who have not passed any of their wishes to public high schools and must have entrance exam scores in 3 subjects: math, literature, foreign language and priority and incentive points (if any) greater than or equal to the standard score of grade 10 of the first wish of the public high school they want to register for. Each student can only register for additional admission to one public high school that has not yet reached its assigned enrollment quota and cannot change schools after submitting the application for additional admission.

Thus, the conditions for additional admission to grade 10 this year have changed compared to previous years, instead of the additional admission standard score having to be equal to or greater than the third choice standard score. Previously, according to Thanh Nien 's records, schools have not yet recruited enough grade 10 students this year, especially the top schools, because the standard score for the first choice is already high, so in previous years, most of them could not recruit any additional candidates.

Students wishing to enroll additional students must submit their application directly to the high school, including the 10th grade entrance exam score report issued by the middle school where the student registered to take the exam.

High schools are responsible for receiving applications within the prescribed time, ensuring that candidates meet the conditions specified for each type.

Additional recruitment for 10th grade Japanese class

The Japanese language enhancement program recruits students who have taken the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year in region 1 and have studied Japanese (first foreign language) in junior high school.

Students register to take the Japanese language exam, achieve a score of 5 or higher and have not been admitted to high schools with Japanese language programs.

Secondary schools that teach Japanese (foreign language 1) are responsible for reviewing and making a list of candidates who are eligible for additional admission and send it to the Quality Management Department, Department of Education and Training before 5:00 p.m. on August 4.

The Department will base on the list of qualified candidates and conduct admission based on the Japanese language test scores in order of priority from high to low until the remaining Japanese language class quota at Marie Curie High School is met.

Additional recruitment for grade 10 integrated English program (according to Project 5695)

Students who have passed other types of admission to high schools that teach integrated English programs (according to Project 5695) and wish to switch to studying integrated English programs (according to Project 5695).

Based on the number of students who have passed the entrance exam and want to change their application type, high schools organize a survey to convert in order to fill the assigned quota.

To ensure the public and transparent recruitment of 10th grade students, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, noted that high schools do not accept students exceeding the enrollment quota. Cases exceeding the enrollment quota will not be resolved. No additional candidates will be accepted after 4:00 p.m. on August 11. Candidates participating in the additional recruitment must have their names on the Department's exam management system. The high school's admission council must be responsible for the additional recruitment conditions and ensure the validity of the application to the parents and the Department of Education and Training.
