Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Long directly experienced the automatic ticket checking system
On the morning of December 5, at Cat Linh station, the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway officially put into operation the automatic cashless ticket control system. This is an important step in the digital transformation roadmap of the transport sector, contributing to improving people's experience and enhancing the efficiency of public transport service management in the capital.
Integrate multiple payment methods
According to Hanoi Metro Company Limited, the automatic ticket control system is installed synchronously at stations with multi-standard ticket readers, AI cameras, smart control panels, servers and security layers according to international standards.
The official operation allows passengers to access many forms of cashless payment, such as chip-based citizen identification cards, QR codes, international bank cards (Visa) and other forms of electronic payment.
During the trial period, the system served more than 1 million passengers with over 395 thousand tickets sold, ensuring stable operation and compatibility with large passenger traffic. Production and revenue data are managed in real time, helping to improve transparency and support the management of the operating unit as well as the supervision of state management agencies.
Putting the automatic ticket checking system into operation is an important foundation for Hanoi to continue modernizing the metro network in the future. The system is designed to be open, capable of connecting data with operation centers and the national electronic identification platform, contributing to completing the shared database for urban transport.
Emphasize safety and security requirements
At the event, Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Long directly experienced the automatic ticket checking system using chip-embedded citizen identification cards. The Deputy Minister assessed that the integration of electronic identification, biometric authentication and cashless payment is a suitable direction for the national digital transformation task, contributing to ensuring security, safety and convenience for people when participating in public transport.
The Deputy Minister said that connecting data with the VNeID platform will effectively support management work, quickly identify unusual behaviors, prevent fraud and enhance social order and safety in urban transport.
Colonel Vu Trong Du, representative of the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order (C06 - Ministry of Public Security), said that the automatic ticket checking system using electronic identification and authentication technology is an important step to improve management efficiency in public transport.
According to the Colonel, the use of chip-based citizen identification cards and electronic identification data helps ensure accuracy in passenger identification, preventing ticket evasion, fraud or the use of invalid documents. C06 coordinates with Hanoi Metro to deploy multi-layered security solutions, ensuring that citizens' privacy is not violated while meeting data security requirements.
Colonel Vu Trong Du emphasized: "The operating system on the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line is an important testing platform for gradual integration into the smart transport ecosystem, towards transparent, safe and convenient management for people."
At the station, passengers can easily scan their chip-embedded ID card, QR code or bank card to pass through the control gate in just 0.2 seconds; the first scan alone takes about 1 second for the device to recognize. The time to pass through the gate is significantly reduced, especially during rush hour.
Many elderly passengers, students, and daily commuters appreciate that the new system helps save time, without having to carry paper tickets or prepare cash. Station staff are still on duty to guide people to get acquainted with the new technology, ensuring safe and smooth operation.
According to the plan, from January 1, 2026, about 30% of ticket gates will operate completely with new technology. Data centers, management software, fire alarm systems, and incident reporting systems will be upgraded synchronously, creating a deployment platform for the next metro lines.
The application of automatic ticket checking system not only improves service quality but also increases transparency, saves management costs, and aims to build a civilized and modern public transport system that meets the development requirements of the capital.
