On December 5, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) held the Award Ceremony and Opening of the 13th International Art Photography Competition in 2025 in Vietnam (abbreviated as VN-25).
The event was attended by many delegates and domestic and international photographers.
Speaking at the event, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists Tran Thi Thu Dong said that the Award Ceremony and Opening of the 13th International Art Photography Competition Exhibition in Vietnam in 2025 has special significance, as it takes place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.
Six decades of accompanying the country, Vietnamese photography has continuously grown. The 13th International Art Photography Exhibition is a vivid proof of that maturity and deep integration.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dong, the Organizing Committee received 13,236 entries; bringing together 1,054 authors from 31 countries and territories.
In addition to the prestigious awards of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA), this contest continues to be sponsored by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), awarding Medals and Honorary Certificates for 4 contest topics: Freedom for color photos, Freedom for monochrome photos, Travel and Portrait.
The Organizing Committee has invited 4 independent Jury Panels, including highly-titled and experienced photographers from Vietnam, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Spain and Indonesia.
The entire appraisal process is carried out on a dedicated internet technology platform (online), ensuring objectivity and absolute independence among the judges.
Through the selection rounds, the Council selected 664 best works from 383 authors from 22 countries for the exhibition round.
The Organizing Committee awarded 47 prestigious awards from both the VAPA and FIAP systems to authors from 9 countries and territories: Croatia, Taiwan (China), Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Vietnam.
Standing out at this year's competition, author Marcel Van Balken (Netherlands) won the FIAP Blue Ribbon - the winner of the most awards in the competition with 10 award-winning and exhibited works, including 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal, 1 Bronze Medal, 1 Certificate of Honor and 6 exhibited works.

Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dong said that at this contest, Vietnamese authors won 34/47 awards. This is a proud achievement, reflecting the passion and strong force of the country's photography.
However, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dong also shared that observing the award-winning works of countries with developed photography industries such as the Netherlands, Hungary, and Germany, they show superiority in conceptual thinking, perfection in processing techniques, and profound philosophical perspectives.
Meanwhile, many Vietnamese works, although very beautiful and eye-catching, still have some repetition, or in other words, follow familiar "paths".
The President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists hopes that today's awards and exhibitions are not only a destination, but also an opportunity for Vietnamese artists to reflect and learn from international friends.
According to the assessment of the Art Council, the entries in this contest have high artistic and technical quality, demonstrating the diversity in creative thinking of authors from many different cultures.
In all four themes, photographers have deeply exploited the aesthetics of light, composition and moments, while reflecting humane stories and new perspectives on life, people and landscapes.
Many works made a strong impression with their modern, experimental approach, showing the integration of Vietnamese photography into the international creative flow, as well as the clear maturity of the domestic author team.
The 13th International Art Photography Exhibition 2025 in Vietnam introduces to the public 250 outstanding photographic works, including 47 award-winning works and more than 200 high-quality photographs, bringing to the public a rich artistic space, expressing many creative styles and unique perspectives of artists from 38 countries and territories.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dong, the photos displayed at this exhibition are a colorful visual "feast", including vivid pictures of nature, country, and people; a place where the subtle beauty of ethnic cultures is honored.
Through these photos, Vietnam and the world understand and love each other more, contributing to the goal of peace and development in accordance with the foreign policy of the Party and State of Vietnam.
The exhibition takes place at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (Hanoi) until December 9, 2025./.
