Over the years, the hospital has promoted and applied modern new science and technology, not only treating domestic patients but also attracting many foreign patients to come for treatment and evaluate the quality of effectiveness. This is the highlight of Dong Do Hospital and has become a bright spot that has actively contributed to the initial formation of promoting the development of Vietnam's medical tourism model.
Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen emphasized this at the 15th Anniversary Ceremony of Dong Do Hospital and the launching of the Tissue Bank, which took place on the afternoon of December 5 in Hanoi.
Mr. Do Xuan Tuyen said that the Ministry of Health has developed a project to develop healthcare combined with tourism and is implementing strategies to promote this activity in order to attract foreigners to come to Vietnam not only for tourism but also to become a destination for both tourism and medical treatment.
According to Mr. Tuyen, the Ministry of Health encourages public and non-public health facilities to apply advanced and modern techniques to limit people from going abroad for medical treatment and attract foreigners to come for medical examination and treatment. This is the first step in forming a form of health care that combines medical care and tourism.

To meet the requirements of gradually attracting foreign patients to Vietnam for medical treatment, hospitals in general and Dong Do Hospital in particular are always at the forefront of modernizing technology, improving the skills of doctors and medical staff, promoting digital transformation to reduce medical examination and treatment procedures and increase satisfaction with civilized and modern hospitals.
Dr. Dinh Thi Phuong Thuy - Executive Director of Dong Do Hospital said that over the past 15 years, the Hospital has received and successfully treated hundreds of thousands of patients, from simple cases to complex cases requiring high techniques.
The hospital is a pioneer in Vietnam in applying modern refractive surgery technologies such as Clear and SmartSight - leading technologies in the global refractive treatment trend or Femto Cataract knifeless cataract surgery.
Also at the ceremony, Dong Do Hospital announced the launch of the Tissue Bank, marking an important step in developing a tissue transplant network in Vietnam and improving the quality of ophthalmological care, meeting the increasing treatment needs of patients.
Tissue banks with standardized storage systems, standardized operating procedures, and digital data management platforms help ensure biosafety, maintain tissue integrity, and traceability. This is an important foundation for implementing advanced transplantation techniques (including corneal transplantation), shortening waiting times, increasing accessibility, and improving the reliability of treatment results for patients.

Not only corneas, the Tissue Bank also stores and preserves amniotic membranes from healthy postpartum mothers - a valuable tissue source for treating corneal surface diseases and many complex emergency situations.
At the ceremony, Dong Do Hospital was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for NIDEK's Advanced Ophthalmic Technology by NIDEK Corporation (Japan) according to strict Japanese quality standards. The hospital also signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Nikko Academy, focusing on the fields of stem cells, corneal transplantation and hospital management./.
