On June 16th, Comrade Mai Xuan Liem, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, signed a document addressed to the Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command, the 923rd Air Force Regiment, the Tho Xuan Airport Authority, Tho Xuan Airport, and other relevant units regarding the dissemination of legal information and the review of the ownership and use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Never use unlicensed drones.
To ensure absolute aviation safety and security, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province requested localities to strengthen propaganda and education , raising people's awareness of complying with legal regulations related to the ownership and use of flying devices (UAVs, flycams, drones), permitted flying areas, and responsibilities during use.
Under no circumstances should you possess or use unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) without prior inspection and licensing by the competent authority.
Operating or controlling unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) or flying kites is strictly prohibited in airport areas, airfields, national defense and security zones, and areas restricted by law.
Review and compile statistics on the ownership and use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Police Department to take the lead and coordinate with relevant units to review and compile statistics on the ownership and use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by organizations and individuals in the province (including businesses selling UAVs and related services).
Authorities need to resolutely combat the illegal possession, storage, and use of drones. At the same time, they should encourage the public to participate in monitoring and reporting unauthorized use of drones and kite flying that encroaches on prohibited areas or areas requiring security protection, especially regarding unfamiliar drones of unknown origin or with unusual activity.
Citizens should promptly provide information and images (if any) to the authorities to assist in the inspection, verification, and handling of cases.
Ensuring absolute safety for aviation operations.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province requested the 923rd Air Regiment to continue to closely coordinate with the Provincial Military Command, Tho Xuan Aviation Authority, Tho Xuan Airport, and other relevant agencies to closely monitor the situation and promptly develop plans to handle any incidents arising from illegal intrusion by unmanned aerial vehicles, ensuring absolute safety for aviation operations.
Between June 13th and 15th, several flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa were forced to divert to Noi Bai or Vinh airports due to the repeated appearance of numerous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Tho Xuan airport area. On June 15th, the Civil Aviation Authority issued an urgent directive instructing Tho Xuan Airport to closely coordinate with air traffic control, aviation security forces, military personnel, and other relevant agencies to promptly detect and handle illegally intruding aircraft. On June 16th, the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority decided that Tho Xuan Airport (Thanh Hoa) would temporarily suspend receiving aircraft from 6 PM on June 16th to 6 AM on June 17th to ensure safety. | |
